Sebastiaan,

I think you don't understand. VH1 Save the Music is for under privilaged Kids in Public schools who have had their music programs taken away due to funding issues, lots of stars help out by raising money or making donations to ensure that "the music doesn't die" . Just because our public schools can't afford or refuse to find a way to afford to continue musical education, doesn't mean these kids who are talented, should be punished by not being able to learn how to play an instrument or afforded the opportunity to demonstrate their talents. That is what they are talking about when they SAVE THE MUSIC. It doesn't matter WHAT band participates, or what your feeling is about them.

if you grew up in poverty or have been through it - maybe. But not if you grew up middle class and turned millionaire - I just don't see how anyone could relate. Sure, you read stuff in the news and every once in a while when you take a wrong exit off the freeway, you might see a homeless person, but it's not experience and it doesn't come from the heart. I like Hey God, but half of those lyrics give me the chills and not the good ones. I think they sound phoney. IMO.
I agree with what you write spunky I mean I understand what you mean ...but you don't have to be starved to kill ppl or to go through terrible things and being though emotionnaly touched by the unfairness of the world and want to write Hey God

I don't need to have a close friend killed by gun to feel like the world is going crazy .. I didn't suffer directly but i still suffer and i am still honesty with the fact I am disgusted ...

Save the Music is about starting music programs in public schools.
with the way things are and the economy the funds from public schools are being cut off and the first thing they take are the music programs, hence the save the music thing.
sort of like keeping the kids off drugs and into music sort of thing.
I think David is related to that program:
(from davidbryan.com)
David has also dedicated his time to become a National Spokesperson for VH1's Save The Music Program, traveling across the country to many of the 43 cities which participated in the program in 2001. In addition to on site programs and performances, David has also produced a video with VH1 to be used in schools he is not able to visit personally. The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring music education programs in cities across the U.S. and raising awareness of the importance of music participation for our nation's youth.

' Save The Music Foundation ', with the チャリティ organization which the music special TV station VH1 of America directs, class of music (class of musical instrument performance) the activity which it recovers is done by sending the musical instrument to the American public school. Furthermore, in at this concert in other things, Rob Thomas, Joss Stone, Queen Latifah and John Legend etc. you perform. As for this pattern it is the schedule which is televised in the All-American via VH1.

I don't say Jon is totally dishonest but I don't think he is not really honest neither ... I don't care or praise about a band just because it is working like Bob dylan it's not my idea it's not my lyrics I am not that demanding about that but if we want to discuss the lyrics yes we have some good things to talk about .... I for myself would not have talk about LMS because the song make me feel umconfortable but if you want to talk about it ok ...

I think Jon is honest in Hey God and he is less honest with LMS (which is a great song though) I feel like we are slightly manipulated with LMS.. but the song remain a great song talking about music business

Hey God talks to me way more though ... the thema talks to me way more than the problem of integrity in the music business
Maybe peoples perception is a little off here - everyone is automatically assuming that they are singing about themselves - perhaps (like Jon mentioned in a previous radio interview) the singer is the 'Carnival Huckster' bringing people in to see the lLast Man Standing. Perhaps Jon sees himself more in the huckster role: not the be-all-end-all of the business but rather a bridge that helps people who know nothing other than regular pop trash to see that there is another side to the music industry - a less 'manufactured' one.

Perhaps Jon see's himself as a necessary device to inroduce the blind to real music.

Yes Bon Jovi's music has been poppy as of late but it is still performed live in the truest sense and all original. Everyone seems to have this skewed vision that the world of music exists on 2 separate islands - why can the islands not be bridged and who is to say that Bon Jovi is not one of the bridges.

Just my view on this overy discussed topic.

Ciuao peoplez,

Mikey D

Well as Jon said on the TLFR dvd- Last Man was written about the rock scene in general nowadays.

These days you mostly get 3 minute pop ditties on the radio, and songs that are rated because what the singer wares (or doesn't ware).
There aren't any storytelling songs- such as Elton John's or Jon's for that matter. and where every starting artist with one hit song- get 4 Grammies...

I don't think it's not presumptuous of Jon to put Bon Jovi in the same category of Elton or Bruce- cause he's got 100 million records to prove it. a milestone that it's hard to see any artist today achieving that goal in 20 years.

well o.k maybe the personal note for J. Lo isn't the smartest thing (which btw was only in the Borgata show)...
but still, and it's not that I'm saying that ppl do'nt listen to those kinds of songs- some are them are fun, but it's sad that the whole industry is only about that.

Who knows, maybe it was "in the works" when it was first announced and it didn't get to the final stages or something?

Or maybe the band doesn't want to be announced yet, maybe they want to be the last addition or something but that's just hopefull thinking.
