And the poll is still open... Smh.

BJ is still up by 16 points, and they've held that steady lead all day.

Maybe GuitarWorld is waiting for Monday to announce a winner. Or maybe they're f'ing with poeple because of some of the nasty comments people have been leaving on the website, and on the polldaddy poll.

Either way, this thing has taken a distasteful turn, both on the part of Guitarworld and on the part of the fans participating. :-/

But, let's see what happens, perhaps we can still see a classy conclusion.

I haven't had time to go to their site because I've been busy all weekend, but I like what you posted here that you posted there, Razor.

@Matrix, indeed. Both bands deserve better, and those trolls give the fans a bad name.

The poll is still open, but the result hasn't changed. Probably because the page is no longer very prominent on GuitarWorld's site.

I won't be able to check it again for a while because I'm traveling today, so anyone please feel free to update the thread if there's any status change in the next 8 or 9 hours.

Bon Jovi Fans Think Bon Jovi Are the Best American Rock Band Ever

Early last month, we at GuitarWorld.com launched our latest readers' poll, the Best American Rock Band Ever.

Although we had thousands of great bands to choose from when kicking off the poll, we decided to narrow things down to 32, which is perfect for a month's worth of matchups. All the bands were selected by Guitar World's editorial staff.

The poll included current bands and classic bands that disappeared into the woodwork decades ago. The fill list included:

Aerosmith, Alice In Chains, the Allman Brothers Band, the Beach Boys, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Doors, Eagles, Foo Fighters, Grateful Dead, Green Day, Guns N' Roses, Heart, Kiss, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age, Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., Soundgarden, Steely Dan, Steve Miller Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Styx, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Van Halen, the White Stripes and ZZ Top.

Anyway, in the end, the title went to Bon Jovi, who battled it out over three days (this past Friday through Sunday) with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. If nothing else, the poll proved that Bon Jovi fans think Bon Jovi are the best American band ... of all time.

So, on that note, thanks to everyone who voted legitimately. We actually received thousands upon thousands of page views and votes (not to mention scores of interesting comments). Thanks also to the crew at Sweetwater, who sponsored the poll.

Yes, Bon Jovi fans, (who listen to the deep cuts, b sides, and demos; and who have seen countless legendary concerts around the world over the years) think this band is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, to come out of America, even though they are not usually the critics choice. Thank you Guitar World for the opportunity to show our love and respect for this band, and to show that even though Bon Jovi is not the critics choice, they are the people's choice. Though I wish you had shown a little more respect in your final article, which I found brief and condescending. It's a shame, because this contest helped me discover your website, and I would have become regular reader here as I am also a fan of most of the other bands that you cover. But that won't be the case, and I imagine it won't be for many other Bon Jovi fans that have discovered your website only to be alienated by this final article.

I disagree untitled. A proper article would have been titled "Readers Poll: Bon Jovi Best American Rock Band Ever", instead we got "Bon Jovi fans think Bon Jovi is the best ever". Also, by thanking voters who voted "legitimately ", they're implying that BJ fans spammed the vote, and thus the band is undeserving of the title. Finally, this contest has been a prominent feature in the website all month, and the final article that declares a winner isn't feature, but rather relegated to a new news article on the side menu.

Oh sorry, I agree with you completely - was a feeble attempt at sarcasm.
