I don't view either KTF or Crush as 'comeback' albums, because Bon Jovi in my mind didn't really ever go away. They took some time off, did some solo stuff, a movie or two. A comeback is surely when a band has either split up, or been away for a really, really long time (10 years +). OK, so it was 5 years between These Days and Crush, but so what? Also, who are these artists that release albums at least every year?? Popsters maybe who are forced to by the record companies, but not established artists.

The majority of new artists out there, popstars or not, are forced to release albums one after the other. I am not talking about The Stones, but bands like Coldplay, etc. are forced to continue to ride their popularity because it is such a fickle market these days. If you are not "seen" for a few months, people forget very easily in the music market of today. There is no loyalty like there was back in the day.

My point exaclty...not established stars. (by the way....I would call Coldplay pop!!! but that's another discussion altogther) If Motley get back together now...with Vince *and * Tommy....I'd call that a comeback. DLR back in Van Halen....that would be a comeback. Crush wasn't.

I don't think Coldplay is pop, more like suicide music, but that is another discussion.

Actually, if you truly want to define "pop" all it means is popular.

Ha!!! couldn't agree more. And yes...pop is popular....and by that definition Bon Jovi were very 'pop' in the late 80's. To be honest, I really don't care what genre a particular band or artist are placed in...if I like it, I like it. My preference would be guitar based 'rock' music, played by people that *can* actually play the instruments!

Also just occured to me that for most artists, they probably don't mind at all being sent back into the studio album after album in the early stages of their career. If they have been around gigging for a while, then get picked up by a record company, it must surely be their dream come true...finally being a rock star...recording and touring. Bon Jovi did exactly that remember...Bon Jovi, 7800 and Slippery all only a year apart, and then New Jersey recorded as soon as they could get into the studio after the slippery tour. Of course, by then they had had just about enough, and it nearly killed the band...but I'm sure right up until the Jersey tour they were having the time of their life!

I dont think Crush was as heavy weight as KTF , I did prefer Crush to Bounce though.

Crush was a comeback album and did a good job of gaining Bon Jovi new, younger fans. But for me KTF was a better comeback album, that was my "Crush" which introduced me to Bon Jovi. Crush is based on one song, IML, but KTF had a whole album of quality songs.

I think it was a good comeback. It's My Life was a huge success here in the UK and Say It Isn't So did pretty well too. Although instead of TYFLM they should have realised Just Older I think.

Anyway Crush was the first album I heard too. If it hadn't been for It's My Life I may not have been here today. I think they made a lot of new fans with the Crush album. It's not as good as Keep The Faith, or These Days, but it's still a good album, and has enough good songs on it to make a lot of new fans.
