According to the news reports, Tico got sick just before the band was to depart for the venue for souncheck. If his appendix had decided to wait just a few hours more and attacked him DURING the soundcheck (or the gig itself) when his heart rate and body temperature would have been elevated -- well, this story could easily have had a much sadder ending.

Even his appendix loved him enough to sacrifice itself.
