Ok so lets see what we have

I'm going to live my life on a train with Superman, walking my blind, bleeding dog while I'm alive.

These are two that still get on my nerves sometimes...

(might not be an exact quote)

"I don't know where I'm going, only God knows where I've been" BOG

"I don't know where it's going, we all know where it's been" LMS

"I'll be there for you, these five words I swear to you" (IBTFY)

"all I've got to give to you are these five words tonight" (TYFLM)

One other thing...

I was just listening to Why Aren't You Dead..which sounds remarkably like Sleep When I'm Dead-melodically and lyrically....

hmmm

There is also the verse about like a blind dog without a bone in the song Who Says You Can't Go Home. In all of these years, I never thought that Bon Jovi sings a lot about dogs. I think there are even more songs? Anyone know what is up with that? Weird Thought.

They are just sayings! I don't think they have a 'thing' about dogs!

Exactly. That comes up so much, it's hardly worth mentioning.

I get that singing about dogs is metaphorical (I'm not actually picturing every dog will have its day as a dog sitting around waiting for his day!), just kinda never noticed that pattern before. I like what Irish pointed out above - that is quite observant. The these 5 words I swear to you is especially funny. I'll never hear that song again without thinking about that

Really? Haha That's the first thing most people notice when they hear it, heh. Richie even got called on it on a tv interview on KTLA in 2000. It was amusing.

Did he say if it was intentional? I thought it was, along the lines of Must've seen it coming when the roses died from "This Ain't a Love Song" referencing "Bed of Roses" or "Novocaine," "It's My Life" and even "99 In the Shade" referencing "Living on a Prayer."
