But it's not. You don't jump up and down during a ballad.

Agree! But regardless, I think SN is better than ITA anyway. SN is a much better live song too.

There is nothing wrong with Silent Night - In These Arms is a way better live song though. It gets the audience going.

Silent Night would be a snoozefest in the USA when played live.

'Tokyo Road' obviously.

7800 is actually in my top three albums. I love it. There's only one or two songs that I skip.

Silent Night would be a snoozefest wherever it'd be played. It's not a live track, it'd work just as good as the Richie classic You Can Only Get So High.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I like the performance they did for that pro-shot gig in Japan in '85. Can't comment on how it would go down in an audience, mind. That whole gig is pretty great, actually.

If they could perform it like this, it'd go over just fine:

I don't think they'll have issues performing it that way - Jon's never going to be able to nail the vocals like this.

Silent Night would be a rarity for Die Hards. Sure, ITA has more of an upbeat rhythm so the crowd will react differently. When I say better live song, I mean performance. I always thought ITA lacked a good chorus. Solid beginning and first verse but the song for me dies half way through. When I hear it live, the song seems never ending.

And now in 2012, I don't think the casual fan would know this song any more than they would Silent Night. If it's not on Cross Roads, they don't know it. I've seen fans reacting better to Saturday Night then ITA or other greats like Living in Sin.
