Default What a difference...

Hi all,

I read a lot of debates lately about Jon losing his voice, or letting it go... I didn't quite believe it myself, or at least didn't make a big deal out of it.

Believe or not, I've been a fan for 17 years now but had never heard his first solo album fully, Blaze of Glory. Never felt like buying it or listening, don't know why. But I downloaded it recently and am listening to it right now.

Man, what a difference between this and his performances on Crush or Bounce (I won't take TLFR in consideration cause I take it as a non-BJ album...)... There's so much power in songs like Blood Money and Santa Fe. I also hear some hunger and will to prove something, or at least to do more than good enough, which I feel he's also lost.

He's definately lost or let something go, and what it is made his performances better. I hope he can and will do something about it before they come back.

You're right. And all you have to do is listen/look at bootlegs from the 80's and 90's and you'll hear what he could do. The songs just don't sound as good anymore.

I can't stand to hear Bad Medicine live anymore, it just doesn't work. The same with YGLABN. He doesn't even try anymore.

Now we will get Becky jumping in and saying "well he doesn't want his vocal chords to bleed like they did in the 80's", conveniently forgetting that he had an excellent voice up to and including 1996, like she always does.

Yes, it's just too bad. And the age excuse doesn't stand, listen to Bono from U2 on the live in Boston concert, he's been there longer and still gives it all he's got, and he's still got a lot. U2 has been clever enough, and able, to get back to their basics after "overthought" and "overworked" albums (Zooropa and Pop). And that doesn't mean they're doing the Joshua Tree again.
That's what Bon Jovi has to do, get back to their basics, and wake up the hunger.

That's true. I was forced to listen to U2 during Achtung and thru to Pop 'cause my then-girlfriend was a fan. I couldn't stand the band. Now that I've heard the new stuff and the old stuff, I actually like the band. I still don't like Zooropa or most of Pop, but they're a real rock band. I never new that before.

As for Bon Jovi, I'm afraid going back to basics is out of the question. Jon wants to "evolve".

Please guys (Supersonic and Krb102), don't start this here, I'd like to keep this thread constructive as long as possible. She might bother you often, I don't know, but then don't bring her up or provocate her when she hasn't said anything...

We've said it already so Becky doesn't have to come up with such annoying and completely irrelevant arguments since they don't seem to match with the facts about Jon's voice in the past.

He shouldn't see that as incompatible (spelling?). To evolve in a good way needs solid basics.

Yes, whenever Jon's voice is mentioned, this is her excuse. It had to be said to stop her from saying it.
