I don't know. I'm scared to expect anything. I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed. However, Have A Nice Day HAS given me some light at the end of the tunnel, so I'm feeling a little optimistic. The boxset really surprised me, so I'm hoping their new album will too.

Well everywhere I read about the new album Jon tells it's gonna be rocky but didn't he do the same before with Crush and Bounce???

Here is an interesting article:

New in '05
Bon Jovi's new album due in spring 2005 will be "a loud guitar, big rock record," Jon Bon Jovi says. "We're very excited about it, and I'm very confident it's going to be a big record for us."
Guitarist Richie Sambora says the band will launch a world tour in late spring to support the album, although dates have not yet been announced.
Sambora adds, "I think we stumbled upon something again on this particular record, kind of like what happened with 'It's My Life.' When [that] came out, it seemed to give Bon Jovi a whole new audience. We've always had a vast audience base, but with this new record, what I'm feeling [is] it's kind of a new direction. It sounds very fresh, yet it sounds like us."
The band worked with producer John Shanks (Michelle Branch, Melissa Etheridge), who also wrote tracks with Bon Jovi and Sambora. The album was recorded during the summer.
Bon Jovi notes that changes in the climate of the country, and the state of the music business, influenced the songwriting on the new album.
The songs reflect "personal and introspective views on issues I may have had growing up that I certainly would have never discussed publicly before. I've always kept this 'chin up, glass is half-full' kind of optimism, and [now] I showed some chinks in the armor."
The song "Last Man Standing" depicts Bon Jovi's unhappiness with the music industry. He says it reflects his "disgust of the music business in general and its lack of true vision when it comes to supporting the artistry of a song, the songwriter and the bands on the road."
"Instead of creating what Andy Warhol once called '15 minutes of fame,' think it's down to just three minutes and 30 seconds," he says. "I don't know how this industry is ever going to have another Bob Dylan when it's all about the single, [not] the album and the vision and that inspiration. [It's] all for the sake of a 99-cent download so they can sell bulk and make their bonuses. It's heartbreaking." -- Billboard/VNU Entertainment News Wire

well... considering the course they've been following lately I don't expect them to release anything that'll end up in my CD-rack... Sad but true.

They said the same exact thing about Bounce.

Yeah, "Bounce" was hyped as a rocking record so you can take those comments with a grain of salt.

Personally, I don't really have high hopes for the next album. I don't really think it's going to be all that different from "Crush" and "Bounce". "Have A Nice Day" pretty much sounded exactly how I expected it to, which is VERY similiar to "It's My Life" or "Everyday". I'm sure when it's released to radio, they'll have the typical Voicebox, which I used to only associate with "Livin' On A Prayer" but now it's all too common.

A lot of people complain about the ballads, but I don't so much have a probem with ballads as long as they've got some power and nice hooks in them. I don't want songs like "Open All Night" or "She's A Mystery" which are just going to put me to sleep. The sound of this album is just going to depend on whether they're going to make another attempt at catering to pop radio and the kiddies, or just saying "screw it" and doing something completely different.

I'm 22, and it seems that a lot of people I talk to when I mention BJ say, "Oh yeah, that band who sings "It's My Life". Very annoying. In fact, I know many people who aren't even familiar with ANY other BJ material at all...just that song and that was almost five years ago. I don't think they're going to churn out another hit like that ever again and the fact that they were able to during that era which was rap/metal is very fortunate. And who cares if they don't? The hardcore base will still buy all the records and their tours will still be successful. It just feels like they're saying "Okay...what made "It's My Life" such a huge hit? We need to release more songs like that." I say, just move on and do something different.

yeah, their work is very poor isnt it????? what a nobhead!, i dont think i can call anything the band has done as very poor, it would be fair to say that they have done some mediocre material .
If you take the last album , bounce, IT seems to have mixed reviews, but i dont think anyone can deny that it has some great songs on there.
Undivided, distance, bounce, joey, everyday, hook me up.
I definetly think bounce is a better album than crush, so i think they are moving in the right direction again.after hearing have a nice day, i am really looking forward to another great album by the boys,
