as a singer I think it is absolutely right to bleach your teeth
I mean it is his job to show them when he's on stage, doing photos etc.
Do you want a nice pic of Jon smiling and see yellow teeth?

If you have a look on the Everyday video you can see that he's done only the upper row/ only the upper row was changed in the aftermath.

and concerninng his smoking....doesn't he start and stop permanently?

What's there to excuse? Having good hygeine? I don't think so. I bleach my teeth. Maybe it's a cultural thing. I don't understand why so many people seem to take issue with Jon having white teeth. Wouldn't you rather kiss someone who has nice white, clean teeth than someone who has yellow coffee or tea stained teeth? Or would you prefer a woman who looks like she doesn't care about her teeth?

Becky
The colour of someone's teeth does not reflect health or hygiene. It is known that yellow teeth are on the whole stronger and healthier. I think it is a cultural thing and I also think Americans on the whole are obsessed with teeth. I remember my cousin saying (who lives in America) that people would take out extra morgages on their houses to pay for dental care, that is ridiculous!! As long as someone doesn't have black teeth or no teeth or bad breath I really don't care what colour their teeth are.

Tash
I just have to clarify one thing. I have lived here all of my life, met tons of people through work and school and not once have I ever met someone who has taken out an extra mortgage to make their teeth look nicer. If it is a health issue, then I could see it. I believe your cousin, but I don't think it is as common as some people think.

Also, whitening kits are the in thing now as all of the toothpaste companies are marketing them and you no longer have to go to the dentist to get it done.

I've thought about getting one of those OTC kits myself, but wasn't sure how they work. My dentisit says they are fine the way they are. If my IC would pay for it, I would go back and get braces again. Since my wisdom teeth came in and messed up 4 years of hard work. Just the bottom row. It's not just about looks either, why I want the braces, it's because I have TMJ and the the front bottom teeth are harder to floss because of the crowding.

About Jon's teeth. If you watch American TV, espeically soaps, you will see plenty of actors/actresses with pearly white smiles.
