all the songs from SS, Crush b-sides, stuff from that era on the Box Set, were all recorded by the Richie, David e and Tico? I always thought that Stay doesnt rly sound like them playing, I thought it was Jon's solo band

for what album Too Much Of A Good Thing and Someday Just Might Be Tonight was written? sounds like Sex Sells and I love both.

Both of those came from the writing sessions for SS/Crush as the involve Richie.

I agree with those that think that the turn that Crush took in the final moment, changed it a lot from what SS was initially about.

I think the initial SS concept would also be more "honest" - if one can state that for an artist seeking commercial success - but also yes those rootsier, funky songs .. a few mellower balads, .. it would have been a more .. say 'musical' effort.

Crush just ended up very flat and senseless. A pretty but almost totally empty smile. Thats what it is to me.

Can someone post the songs with their best educated guess as to what songs were early solo works without Richie and which songs came later with Richie...

A revised Box Set list is something I've wanted to collectively put together for years and this is a good start...

oh, I've really hoped to listen to Someday You'll Ride Wild Horses or at least read the lyrics but it seems it's just a ghost song, what a pity

My guesses.

With:
Someday Just Might Be Tonight
Garageland
Maybe Someday
the one that got away
You Can Sleep While I Dream
Ordinary People
Too much of a good thing
All I Wanna Do

Without:
"These Arms Are Open All Night"
I get a Rush
Last chance train
Rich Man Living in a Poor Man's House
Stay
Hush
I don't want to live forever
Gimme Some
Shut up and kiss me
Crazy Love
Kidnap an Angel

All based on song writing credits, if you can't hear his backing vocals or pick out his playing it's probably pre-band involvement.

if you guys could cut a tracklist of the SS and Crush songs, to release SS, what would be your tracklist? Mine would be something like this:

Real Life
You Can Sleep While I Dream
Stay
Just Older
Garageland
Satellite (I don't really remember if its from the SS/Crush sessions but to me it fits)
Ain't No Cure For Love
I Don't Wanna Live Forever
All I Wanna Do is You
Too Much of A Good Thing
Welcome To The Good Times
Someday Just Might Be Tonight

This is what was played to fans as the possible third solo album at a JBJ fanclub anniversary bash in 1998:

The quality is rather poor since it was played over the PA in the background and people kept talking all the way through it. However, we know that these songs were definitely pre-Richie:

Just Older
Hush
Save The World
Shadow Dancing
Good Ain't Good Enough
Stay
Real Life
I Got The Girl
You Can't Lose At Love
Gimme Some
