I agree with you there. Plus, I think Jon has lost some enthusiasm when it comes to performing. There is something missing these days, which I hope will return once they get their music back on track. Instead of trying to please the masses, I think they need to focus more on pleasing themselves.

Amen!
I would be able to overlook Jon's voice more if this was the case. For one thing..it has popped up from time to time since 2000...Shepherds Bush 2002 is a prime example of Jon being in the zone, even if his voice isn't quite what it used to be. ...... When he's in that mode...even the cheesiest songs can come off better than they are...I actually liked Bounce at this particular date due to the attitude behind the performance.
Being in the zone along with music that they truly enjoy just takes their performance into the stratosphere.....they can reign in anybody then when they are in that mode. There are dozens examples of songs where when I listened to them on the studio albums...they didn't really grab me. But when experiencing those songs performed live while the band is in the zone....they became my new favorite songs. Something To Believe In is a prime example of this...after watching/listening to Yokohama 1996....I fell in love with it. I overlooked it on the album....though after getting into it..I was certainly able to go back to the album and appreciate it then. But overall..I have and still do view the albums as blueprints for the songs that will be done on the stage...the studio albums are primers to famliarize you with the material. That is why this is such an important issue for me because that has been sorely lacking for the most part since 2000. The scale has slided over to where the studio versions are preferable...as a Bon Jovi fan...a huge component of what made me a hardcore fan proud to ambush anyone I could with examples of their power and talent..has been missing.
