That is an absolutely incredible version of Always. When you throw everything into the mix, it's my favourite live version of any song by any artist. Just amazing.

Blaze of Glory at the Oscars. Crystal clear, crisp delivery.
At that point, Jon was the greatest singer in the world.

Love the Hamburg acoustic show but, unfortunately, Jon gets his arse handed to him by both Richie and Southside at that show, in my humble opinion...

I agree with you on that one, but I didn't link the Hamburg acoustic show (also for that reason)...

Not sure how I ended up there then! You're right, you didn't... but somehow, I click and ended up watching it. Still enjoyed it... one of the best acoustic stints from Richie as well as some stunning vocals from SSJ.

As for vocal performances that stand out for me... It has to be the best performance of two of my fave tracks of the last twenty years...

Good Guys at MTV.
Or Hey God from MTV.
Both are a great representation of the band, as a band. They still felt like a unit at this time. Every single one of them on fire and Jon's vocals on the edge, almost cracking. He was never a perfect singer, but he was instantly recognisable, unique and ultimately hugely listenable. Plus, he was still a cool f*cker in those days too...

And that's the greatest rendition of any song ever.
