On a record I would said that Jon is about 40 % and Richie about 30 % and all the rest (David, Tico, Hugh, Lorenza, producer etc.) 30 %. I don't see Richies and Jons duties on a record very diffrent. Both of them write the material, both of them are involved in the mixing and the producing of the album.

As a band I would say Jon is VERY important. Without Jon the band would be a bar band, honestly. Jon is the marketing. Some of the people on concerts barley knows who David and Tico are. But without hesitation David, Tico and Hugh are very important and especially Richie. But as I sad Jon is the whole base of Bon Jovi.

I wish someone would update the main site, that poll has been there for years

I'm not entirely sure how much percentage contribution Jon has, but I agree it'd probably be more than anyone else. Then of course there's the rest of the band, the producer of their current record, all the other people at the label, Obie usually seems to get pretty involved, the whole of Bon Jovi management (basically Jon's entire family) .... Jon's contribution to the band as an ABSOLUTE whole probably isn't actually any more than about 50% I'd guess

They know who he is when they get an earful of the hitman!

Dave is the least known, which is sad because he adds a lot like.... erm... his perm

Well I'd say it gives people the chance to offer their contributions and opinions on the makeup and dynamics of the band the forums are about.

He adds a hell of lot more than his perm. His voice can stand on its own - and it's excellent. His piano skills are far above most rockband's keyboard riffs. He never seems to have a bad night or act moody or pissy. He always seems to be ON. He's not the frontman so he can hide more in the back but still - he deserves a bit more credit than his poodle cut.

Yet his backing vocals nowadays go by unnoticed and his piano skills show on Broadway maybe, cause on a jovi show he sticks to the basics

It was a joke, I love the man and his boundless energy.

I always thought if Jon left, of course, Bon Jovi would not exist anymore... but Richie would probably take the vocals and tour with DB TT and HM. Im sure they could fill fairly big venues! This will never happen, im sure.

I went for 50%. I mean there wouldn't be a band if it weren't for Jon would there? He either writes or co-writes pretty much all the songs. I think Richie will have a fair bit of input as well as John Shanks/DC/Whoever they decide to work with. Producers also have quite a bit of input as to how the recordings turn out.
