Default What is success to jon thesedays??

Does he still expect to be competing with the gaga's and biebers of this day and age?? and when his singles dont top the charts he rants in the form of the more things change??

or

Is he content with the fact there is no longer another big hit song to be written, as long as the albums keep topping the charts on release, and they have the biggest tour of the year?

thoughts please
Gunner

Beats the hell out of me! But that would be a very interesting question to ask Jon on a real interview. Instead of all the stupid repetitive crap they always ask them, in fact it might be interesting for all the band members to answer that particular question. I'd be very interested in Tico's point of view.....

dont think he cares about charts and albums these days...just touring. the only reason Albums are released so often is an excuse to have big tours.

Three words: Hall Of Fame.

That's the only milestone left for them. If they ever get in, Bon Jovi (the band) would go from their day jobs to a profitable hobby.

Jon only started caring about having the number 1 tour when he stopped having number 1 albums and singles. If there's one thing that indicates succes to Jon it's being high in whatever chart or getting whatever praise from whatever society (Hall Of Fame, Grammy's etc.). He enjoys telling people that it all doesn't mean anything to him but he measures success by a simple chart, because charts clearly indicate how many people love him.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I think most of Jon's peers have given-up the ghost as far as singles are concerned. Success (music-wise) can be gaged from album sales and chart posistions and then the subsequent tour - where Jon places most of his focus these days.

Sadly I cannot envisage the guys ever having another 'monster' hit.

i m sure longevity and being relevant would be their common answer...and it would be partially true, bj the last decade even if they released mediocre material manage to upstage their status from rock stars to rock legends. it may sound an exaggeration but i believe its true.
even u2 are trying hard to be relevant and have a true radio hit...for these bands they really have to outdo themselves in order to make a hit, think about it, their stature gurantees an exposure but on the other hand they are like dinosaurs in the music business, nothing new and exciting..
i want to believe that bj still have some great songs in them. also another parameter is the comeback factor...bj last big hit was its my life, after a hiatus where the crowd had missed their sound, imo the same goes with u2, beautiful day was a monster hit, vertigo and elevation were also hits but not as big. springsteen is another example, the rising album was a real comeback, the following releases didnt receive the same praise apart from the first few weeks of their release. when you are in the business for so many years the crowd has to miss you

I think modern relevancy. Being able to talk about #1 albums and tours and such as a way to show "We're just as big as the modern stars of music" , in their minds anyway.
