I think if Jon was given a decent role in a decent film, he could be quite a decent actor, but the films he has chosen have been shocking. I think maybe he's a poor judge of scripts or just maybe he's never been offered any decent parts.
Even in U571 his character was just there to make up the numbers as he added nothing whatsoever to the story.

I think I have a hard time with him as an actor because I can't see beyond "Jon Bon Jovi." With other actors we find out about them through roles they are in, and we "get to know them" as they do more films, TV, etc. With Jon, he's someone we know, and are VERY familliar with, as himself. To see him trying to be someone else . . . well, I just don't think it works. In U571, I just kept thinking "what the hell is JBJ doing on a sub?"

Yup, this pretty much sums it up for me too. Although I do like some of his movies in general (The Leading Man, No Looking Back, Moonlight) I can't sit there and not think of him as Jon..

I think this is the reason I keep giving his acting the benefit of the doubt. Cause I wonder if its my perception.
But honestly I think he just isnt that good. A good actor should be able to make a bad role workable and believable. I also think some of his roles were given based a lot on his name than his talent.
There have been times I have cringed watching him but I still buy the movies and watch them (at least once) the same.

I think Jon's a good actor. He did really well in his TV roles on Ally Mcbeal, and SATC. Moonlight and leading man were good too. But the comedy thing is harder for him too pull off IMO. I have Pucked and it wasn't that great, sometimes it was difficult for me to watch because he has talent but just couldn't show it with this film.

I honestly think he was just plain awful in ally mcbeal ... REALLY BAD .. really


this said ... ermmm when i see jared leto singing I don't see the actor in him one lil bit same for johnny depp or keanu reeves when they play music (as side job) maybe it's because it's the other way around ... but I just mean tons of celebrities do both singing and acting ... if jon cannot make us forget he is jon bon jovi it's probably because he is not a good actor enough ..I saw roger daltrey in series where he was totally convincing same for bryan ferry for example ..

Jon should stop trying to be a leading man. Most actors eran their leading man riughts by playing supporting roles and earning their respect as actors.
Johnny boy should take note and realize that U571 and Pay it forward were not enough to earn that respect.

That and stop acting in B movies that don't make theaters.

I think that Jon is an decent actor enough. He's not bad but he's not great either.

that and he has picked some bad movies to be in.


And while I love hockey...and I like Jon. I don't know if I would like this movie.
