Unfortunately all of that is out of his control.

He must have some respect in the acting world to be getting parts - but I think his acting career now is as good as it gets.

I don't really think that.
I believe that a great part of the roles he's gotten has been due to the fact that he's Jon Bon Jovi.
not that I blame him, I'd take advantage of it also if I were him.
For example, Vampires:los muertos.
If it wasn't for the fact that Jon starred in it, it would never have sold anything near the dvd's it sold. The producers knew that.

That's just my opinion

I agree with that. Of course they know he will bring a certain audience. But I bet Jon wants to be in great movies and he cant control everything around him.
I still think though they see some acting talent and respect in Jon to give him the part.

I think part of it is that he still looks like JBJ. The hair, clothes and so on are mostly what we see him look like on any given day (apart from U571) when he looked the least like Jon.

I really liked him in M&V but that movie had some of my fav actors in it anyway so it was very enjoyable.
