Mine was something like this.
I was watching MTV (Yes. MTV. I was young at that time :P) Then the It's my life video came out and I wasn't really into music at that time. But It's my life blew me away. I was sick at the time I first heard it so I told my parents to go buy the crush cd for me. So they did. . I remember my mom saying "Isn't this guy (Jon) one of that crack addicts singers 10 years ago?" and I was like "No way. They are a new band. This is their 1st CD!". Shame on me.
Then I remember listening to it in the car (parked inside my house) and I hated it the first time around. So all I listened to was It's my life. On the next day I went to a friend's house and I told him "Hey look I bought this CD from Bon Jovi" and he got all excited and said "You like Bon Jovi?". He turn out to be a fan of Bon Jovi. He got me into the older records and Wanted Dead Or Alive was my 2nd love..
Then I just couldn't let go. And I won't let go.

Late 1984 or early ´85, friends arguing whether their debut album is called Runaway or not.

Man do I feel old!

My first memory of Bon Jovi was when I was a wee lass, probably 9 or 10 and I was at my cousins' house. My male cousin was really into the hair bands at that time and his little sister who was my age probably heard his tapes (yes, it was tapes back then, not CDs) We were playing and she started yelling "Shock through the heart, and you're to blame, you give love A BADDDD NAME!" Eventually I joined her but I had no idea what the song was or who Bon Jovi was lol

Aww how sweet!

My very first Bon Jovi memory was when I was in kindergarten. I remember I would come home from school everyday and get out my toys and coloring books and play with MTV on in the background. I remember Prayer being played ALL THE TIME and digging the song. I didn't really know it was Bon Jovi but I definitely knew and loved the song. About 6 years later when I fell in love with the band I bought the SWW tape and when I heard Living on A Prayer I immediately remembered and recognized it from when I was a kid and thought to myself.. Wow i never realized that was Bon Jovi all those years ago!

BTW great topic Ireland!

The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

Probably when It's My Life was big and my mom said something about how "he" had been around for a while and when I asked how old "he" was, I thought she said 60.

The look on her face the next time I watched the video and said "are you sure that guy's 60?" was pretty awesome.

Uhhhm. Oddly enough, when I was 7 or 8 I guess. It would have been between 1990 and 1993, I was playing Nintentdo video game based on that old mtv game show, remote control. And the question was something along the lines of "who is the overly attractive lead singer" or something. cut me some slack, it was over 10 years ago, and the answer was Jon Bon Jovi. I'm sure that was the first time I ever heard the name and I thought it was such an odd name. Instance 2 was hearing raise your hands during spaceballs and 3 being when "Midnight in Chelsea" was played over and over on the music video stations here. I thought it was just about the most boring song ever. It's almsot why It took so damn long for me to get into it.

Oh and it's my life. that one too.

It's so funny when I read that so many people started to like the band because of It's My Life or because of Bounce. It's still feels like yesterday when this song/album came out.

My first Jovi experience was in the early 90s, right after communism fell. I saw on TV some black and white clip of Bon Jovi, now I still think it was Blood On Blood because I am sure it was not Wanted and I am also sure it was an upbeat song. Then I was thinkig what weird long hair does people had and how they were jumping and I was wondering why they were moving their heads up and down while playing the guitar.

The next one was 1993 when I sas the clip for I Believe. I remember liking something about it a lot. And then finally, it was Someday I'll Be Saturday Night which made me a fan. Amazing song!

Nope - Kids covered that up. Right after Prayer, all the kids started talking really loud and screaming, laughing, etc for about 20 seconds.

I didn't know what was going on until I got the tape for my birthday.
