Aerosmith, Van Halen, Motley Crue. Think about it - The latter both got press conferences televsied to announce their new world tours.

As was said earlier, Bon Jovi definitely gets much more label support than DL, but they've earned it. They have a proven track record to warrant support. I think it really came into play in 2000. There was no heavy push behind Crush. It sold very well on the strength of It's My Life. Let's face it - That brought on a whole new resurgance of the band and basically made them legends. The success they've had post-2000 is amazing. Once the label saw just how massive and loyal their fan base truly was, of course they got behind them.

That's what I think sets them apart too. While I've always said Jovi don't do bad albums, and that's still true today, it's the live show where they really are world class and on their day, can take on any of the best contenders.

Sure, we had some naff shows in Japan, but after that even the ones with the average set lists were good performances - and now they've suddenly kicked it up a notch and are proving once again - there's no other live band to touch them.

I wouldn't consider Aerosmith and Van Halen as Bon Jovi's counterparts since they started earlier and I think they are both a class above Bon Jovi in terms of being influential and they are truly 'rock legends' in many people's eyes including non fans. Bon Jovi is a legend, but in my eyes and yours and people in this board.

So that leaves MC. They do get some label push (definitely more than, say, Poison, or Warrant) but I don't think it's as much as Bon Jovi. Obviously the Crue's reputation as being assholes probably has something to do with it.

It's My Life was an outstanding song, no doubt about it (I find it funny that some people in this board slags it for being a bit poppy, that song saved Bon Jovi - but that's a separate thread). However, I think Leppard had a better song in Promises just a year before, and the label wasn't really behind them for Euphoria.

There were really thousand long hair rock guys...but Bon Jovi were "cowboys"... That made them original and interesting... That's why they get that kind of label support...
Uhhh I doubt that's the reason. Bon Jovi are fake cowboys. There is no cowboy in Jersey.

I think they got label support because of these reasons:

- Jon looks good
- The songs are good (thanks Desmond Child, Billy Falcon, and others)
- They are professionals (except Richie after Heather dumped him)

I think some of the band's best written songs were just Jon and Richie or just Jon. Blood on Blood, Blaze of Glory (although obviously just Jon), Bed of Roses, I Believe.

I liked Euphoria a lot, but I don't think anything DL has done post 1991 has been better than It's My Life. Then again, ask any die-hard DL fan and they'll strongly disagree.

Didn't Desmond help write BOB as well?

I never denied that some of their best songs are written by JBJ or JBJ/RS. And don't forget David Bryan as a co-writer of the all holy ITA! But, here's the thing. If Desmond didn't come and help write Prayer and Bad Name, I don't think we'll ever get Blaze Of Glory, Bed Of Roses, It's My Life, and all that.

True. But ask a die hard fan of both bands like me and I'll judge outputs from both bands as fairly as I could! LOL.

Post 1996 fiasco from both bands (yes I'm not a fan of TD and Slang as most people would know by now), the best songs are Have A Nice Day and Promises. I still like Promises better. Not by much though.

Blasphemy as it is, I wasn't a huge fan of These Days either. I liked it, but it ranks far below Slippery, New Jersey and Keep The Faith for me.
