You could say Jon was always Bon Jovi and to some he is. Nowadays doesn't come into it I don't think. But I know myself and every Bon Jovi fan I know would not have bought tickets the European shows had Richie not been there.
Richie isn't repetitive? Disagree!

Never will happen. There is no replacing Richie. His just as important as Jon is to the band. The day, those two members leave, the band is over.

Phil X kept doing the same bendy thing (highly technical term) on every solo. It sounded like a cat being prodded by a hot poker.

Richie may repeat some stuff but at least it sounds good.

You guys are all over your heads and fooling yourselves. 99% of people who see Bon Jovi are there for Jon, and out of that 99% I bet not even 25% know who Richie is. Yes I get the band would be over for YOU, but not the rest of the casual fans out there who go to see wanted, prayer and it's my life.

When he's right, he's right. Though I do think 25% is kind of low. RS was married to Heather Locklear after all. Those who speind $100+ on a ticket to see JBJ only probably care a great deal about the social lives of starlets such as HL.

Meh, agree to disagree I guess. I thought Phil X's playing was a refreshing change. Richie's playing had gotten so stagnant for me over the past few years that I liked what Phil did to some of the songs. Richie really only has a handful of licks and moves he just repeats in different keys, but god damn does it blow you away when he does something new.

I'd like to see your research into this subject, you seem to have lots of stats but **** all to back it up

In Dublin there were deafening chants for Richie and even Tico. I'm sure there are regions where most people go to see Jon, but it's not the case everywhere.

I get what you mean but I'd say 99% is a bit exaggerated. I know there's the big parcel of fans who are still convinced (and always will be) that Bon Jovi is a solo act rather than a band. Those are not aware who Richie is, let alone Dave and Tico. But dare saying that at least hal the people at a BJ gig know who the **** Richie Sambora is. Thing is, we can't really criticize the casuals cause they too buy the records and pay their hard earned money to see the gigs, simply because they love the music, even if they only own Crossroads and the recent Greatest Hits.

There's a difference between knowing and caring. I think a lot more than 25% of the people know who Richie is, cheer for him, think he's good, etc. That said, I think a majority of those people would still go see Bon Jovi without Richie (or anyone but Jon).

Look at the people who see Guns N Roses with JUST Axl? GNR sells out arenas and even stadiums consistently. AND Slash has a MUCH bigger fan base than Richie will ever have, like it or not.

Yes I get you like Richie, Mr. Ticostick, and I'm sure people were cheering for Richie... so effing what? You guys are just so in over your heads that Richie is such an integral part of the band. Tell me: What has he contributed over the last 15 years... really? The solos are non existent, if yet short and rehashed. That's not to say he isn't a great guitar player, but his glory days are long over. People see Bon Jovi for Jon - and not even desperate housewives. Guys go to hear Wanted Dead or Alive or Blaze or whatever, and I remember hearing a guy complaining about "the guitar player" singing Lay Your Hands On Me in Edmonton a couple years ago.
