What was the most absurd hoax about the band or the members?

The effect of the media and people's tendency to believe whatever shit they spew out is no better illustrated than in the old rumour of Jon having Aids. I read this in Metal Edge like... 14 years ago, but if memory serves, some arrogant twat of a DJ called Jon up without arranging things in the proper manner. Jon got pissed off and hung up on the jackass, rightly so, and he said something like "He's probably got Aids or something". A total throwaway remark, and yet it snowballed to the point people were believing it true.

Let's see, I have heard so many it's nuts.

1. Jon is gay
2, richie is gay and the lyric " on a steel horse I ride" meant actually about a special kind of dildo they used..........( yeah ok, NOT!)

3. Jon had a nose job
4. Richie had a nose Job
5. Jon was actually going bald there for awhile and had hair implants done, cut his hair to hide it.

6. Jon has Veneers on his teeth ( this is true)
7. Jon has 14 other children across the globe
8. Richie and Cher had an alien love child and it has 2 heads.

I know there is more but iam tired from working 13 hours today.............

Not that I care, but Jon's nose does look different. It may be age, it may be surgery - I'm not going to lose any sleep over it :P

Jon has a pet frog named Basil that has a beard and sings to him at night

lots of rumours are that jon is gay, like the one about him doing a concert and then going backstage cos he felt ill and puking up some semen... 2 pints i think... but that rumour has been about other male celebs too (including brad pitt and matt leblanc and some others who i cant remember) and its always about rich and famous men who lots of women fancy, and its always exactly the same rumour (feels unwell then vomits 2 pints of semen), so its probably not true. i reckon some men are jealous of these men so they spread that same rumour about whichever man theyre jealous of.

i didnt know the one about richie and cher's alien love child - maybe it looks weird not cos its an alien but cos its got its mum's plastic surgery.
theres been odd rumours about jons hair for years too. i like the barbeque one .
