Did you edit that into your post because I don't remember it from earlier today? Yes, I am a musician. No, I'm not a guitarist. Part of what you said isn't even clear to me as to what you mean. What does my life have to do with the band? I said nothing about why they write what they do. I just guessed that it's possible that they've hit on a good thing, so they're putting the band fist right now. I've never tried to come across as thinking for the band. What I said was simply applying some logical reasoning. Richie writes and produces, so as a creator, he's not as limited as some people seem to think he is.
I realize that musicians may hold back in the studio because of time constraints or genre constraints, but Richie doesn't even go wild on stage anymore. Solos aren't greatly extended live. It's been a while since I listened to some bootlegs, but I don't remember them being all
that much different from night to night on the past few tours. The Bon Jovi shows run like a well-oiled machine, and like a working machine, there's not a LOT of variation.
I just don't see Richie or any of them continuing to do what they do if they felt their creativity or integrity was being put assunder for the sake of a dollar. They have plenty of money... they don't need the band. They don't need to tour. They do it because it's what they love it and if they weren't loving it, then they're either stupid for continuing or whores for going after the profit. And, how could a musician love what he does if he felt his creativity was being smothered? I don't think he could. That's why I do not believe that Richie is crying himself to sleep at night because his solo CD has been pushed back again or because he isn't playing 4 minute solos on every song in the studio or on the stage. He is in the position where he can cater to his creative priority, whatever it is. He isn't in a position where survival is in question. He's got more money than most of us could imagine. If he wanted to fund his own solo album instead of a hotel, he could do it. Hell, he could probably fund his own solo album AND a solo tour AND the hotel. He doesn't have to concede to anyone for survival.
