I am a female, and equally embarrassed by said women. It's because of them most female fans are dismissed as middle-aged housewives who just lust after Jon and know nothing about music.

But I blame Jon for this. He went mainstream with his songwriting and does everything he can to maintain his appealing looks (veneers, hair transplants, highlights, wears tight jeans, shirt unbuttoned to his navel). He says "watch me shake my tail feather" on stage FFS. It's his fault. He caters to those women who care more about him shaking his ass than the music he sings while doing it.

Very true - but the said women don't have much self esteem, right ? I am a woman too and older as well but I just shake my head thinking ....are you calling me a sheep (meeh meeh) with no brain - totally programmed to embarrass the world with desperate behavior as if there was no tomorrow ?? ...
Jon sells that but it's up to the targeted persons to not respond.
it's the instant reward when ego boost is needed but most of the time the chippendale attitude is when he struggles to get the audience hooked ...
Honestly - really - it works way less in Europe .. maybe the distance from the stage and the audience is the reason why maybe it's something else but I recall him opening wide his shirt in Munich 2003 and the stadium didn't blink - it was not worth a scream .. so he butonned the shirt back ..quickly (I mean the audience was loud BUT the abs flashing didn't have the slighest effect ...)

I'm a woman but I've always preferred Richie.

It's always puzzled me why women don't prefer Tico. He's the man I'd want to be when I grow old....
Both Jon and Richie look like old women now.

For me, a healthy portion of the Richie appeal comes from the soulfulness of his voice and guitar playing. I just love that bluesy style and the emotive quality he has. He also seems to have a charming personality and seems approachable.

Also, there are certain 'eras' of Richie I'm drawn to, in terms of his appearance: The MTV 'Prayer/Wanted' performance, 1989; the 'Stranger in This Town 'era; the early 2000s, and the post-second-stint-rehab era (2011-until just recently), when he got fit again.

Yes, I do think about this rather too much lol.

I had a major bad day today, and then just now when I read this, it made me laugh out loud!

Thanks for that.

1) I don't think Axl is as good looking. And even if he is, he doesn't try to be. He doesn't show his teeth anytime a camera is pointed at him. Plus, GnRs music was harder, edgier, and aimed more towards males.

2) I'm not sure it's cool for a guy to like Maroon 5. And if their three most popular singles back to back were ballads, it sure wouldn't be. I remember Bon Jovi starting to get hated on a lot in the US in the early-mid 90s when BOR, Always, and TAALS were all we heard from the band on MtV... Kind of feminine when compared to the Black album, Nevermind, Ten, etc. Cobain and Vedder were good looking guys, but they didn't try to be... in fact, they tried not to be... that's the difference... along with the fact that didn't put out music that gave them an opportunity to smile every time they stuck out the mic for the crowd to scream, "Bad Name".

Absolutely! Tico is one bad ass! There are times he seems bored up there... I don't blame him given most of the material played.. but then he just comes to life as "The Hit Man," waking you up when you least expect it. I do hope to be playing the drums with that fervor when I'm his age.

I don't get all the hate towards the ballads, and never will. Also, isn't like the band is releasing a full ballad album like others have done.
