You've got to remember that the general public does not listen to albums, they only hear the singles which are played on the radio. And Bon Jovi tend to choose the simplest most clichéd songs as singles. So they partly have themselves to blame for the public perception. e.g. why would anyone think that 'we weren't born to follow' was the best choice?

Apart from that sadly yeah; people are prejudiced against Bon Jovi. And as Rdkopper alluded to I strongly feel that they have suffered a lot over the years because most guys would not want to be associated with them publicly. Impossible to put a definitive number on it but obviously this has cost them in the way of album and ticket sales too.

Even I have to admit that as a guy and a Bon Jovi fan I am embarrassed by the behavior of the sub-section of female fans who are more interested in Jon than music.
