Make it good? The only way to make a song good is to own it. I Believe is brilliant because Jon sings the **** out it. If Jon put a little more time in the studio and used a little more the right technologies (like Note Corrector over Auto-Tune), I think we can get something great. Oh, and less songs about climbing mountains.

I really thought Jon was going in the right direction with Burning Bridges. With Teardrop and Who Would You Die For being throw a ways, I thought This House was it and although I like it, it's still not IT.

While I don't like Shanks' original wall of sound style, some late efforts which are over the top modernized/electronic, sound nice. So I like BAT, Walls and somehow WWYDF fits well into this vein as well.

It should be rather hard to perform in a live setting, but this sort of almost electro-rock could be quite cool and doable as a fresh initiative. BAT was nice live, but it became a straight forward rock song. Which is also a way to go, have some heavy electronic production in the album, turn it to hard rock in concerts so that it fits with the rest of the catalog.

+ slow songs like "I will drive you home" fit well in this soundscape as well. So I suppose that 's the best I can expect.. And tourwise just a few decent shows. And come to Europe.

I just want something fresh and creative and not the same old beaten-to-death formula we've had for the past decade or so.

I hope not. I'd like something in the vain of LH again - honest singer/songwriter type of stuff with no over-production.

35 years of history, they should release 35 historic concerts

I would like a mix of LH and The Circle for the next album.
I don't like the way the vocals sound on THINFS seems way too overproduced, or even the whole sound.

KTF actually seems like their most produced album before 2000, isn't it.
Compare KTF to any other albums BEFORE 2000 and you'll probably hear what I mean.
The Circle probably comes the closest to their 80's music.

Well to my ears everything up to SexSells/Cruch era, has a clean organic sound where even if there is heavy instrumentation (and in this regard I'd say These Days probably has even more volume instrumentaly than KTF), you can make up the different instruments and there are variations in dynamics etc.

Bounce is some intermediate thing where however the cleaner acoustic songs sound too "shiny" for me - but ok I take that

Similarly the TLFR production is too soft and boring, even if it is 'organic'.

Then comes the wall of sound, with a few exceptions here and there, notably in LH.

I think it is hard to return to a more "real" sound because there is no real band playing and rehearsing the songs before recording an album. When all orchestration is prepared by Shanks in some midi program and then Tico, Hugh and Dave come to record them, it is normal that we get some totally different music.

EXAMPLE : Take the bass line in Love aint nothing but a four letter word. Listen to the original demo and see how the drums very much follow that groove and occasionally the guitar doubles in that as well. Finally listen to the melodic fillings of the keyboards when there are pauses in the vocal melody.

This is some ****in cool music there! Do you think Jon wrote this?? It is the band coming together at the moment and interpreting Jon's initial idea which would be just some chords and a vocal. And then this whole interaction that creates the song.

Shanks on his computer would never think of a groove this great. Not just because he is alone with a computer. It is just not his style.

THINFS songs sound kinda too layered for me. Kinda like a wall. Hard to describe what I mean.
Too overproduced.
