Didnt meet expectations?

May it be to marketing or just an interview that you got soooo hyped up but was terribly disappointed.

Not straight from the horses mouth but I remember MattBj biging up The Circle by stating that he had heard the album and not only was it better than any of their recent albums it was actually their best Album ever released!

A generally ok/good in parts album but come on!!!

Probably every single interview where they have said that their current record is their best ever album, a 'return to their roots' record with 'big guitars' etc etc.

Fair enough, they should believe that what they release is always the best that they can do at that point in time, shame that nobody outside of the band often agrees with their sentiments.

But, the OWN and TLFR pre-release hype definitely did not live up to the real thing..

The live album and TLFR were both huge letdowns. TLFR was a great concept, but the finished product fell flat. Of the two, the live album was the bigger disappointment though. Bon Jovi is a GREAT live band. They COULD have had a great live album.

Was Crush not massively hyped considering the 4 year hiatus??? Turned out to be a decent album that changed the sound but many would say not a patch on the previous two decades efforts.

Yes, it was hyped a lot because It's My Life was a huge hit single and it also hit at the same time Jon was in U-571 so there was some cross-promotion. But like you said, it's a decent album. If memory serves me correctly, it was pretty well received except a few songs that were generally disliked (Save the World, She's a Mystery). Even Captain Crash was liked back then!

Bounce.
Granted, it's partially because that was he first album that I as on board for the "cycle" (watched all the press, bought it the day it came out, etc.) and I was massively disappointed in it compared to Crush.
