Default Whats this Bobby is using ?

the BBC recording of IN CONCERT was shown again last weekend, and I noticed Bobby was using this to play during WATER, I also noticed him using a similar thing on tour. Can any of you folks in the know explain what it is.....looks like a tape measure to me

its called e-bow. you hold it over one string and is used in stead of a pic. it gives a "bowish" violin sound. they use it during what the water made me

It vibrates the strings, The Edge (funnily enough) uses it a bunch.

Very cool effect. Paul Stanley of Kiss also used one on some of Kiss 70s track.

Not quite. It was used on Paul's solo album.

Not quite, it was used on I Stole Your Love and Love Gun as well

On I Stole Your Love there are some E-bows during the choruses and solo, very low in the mix. Listen with headphones and you'll hear it.

On Love Gun they are very prominent in the pre-chorus and chorus. You can't miss them.

Umm, no. E-bow was used on Love Gun demos recorded at the same time as the solo album, but not on the actual album. If you think otherwise, I'd like to see the proof.

There's a constant sound in those songs, but it could be a synth or something like that as well. It's also there on the re-recording of Love Gun and no one has mentioned ebow anywhere. But like I said, if you know better, I'd like to see proof.
