Default When Did Jon Go Through "The Change"

When did he go from this?

or even this?

to this?

I know he wants to be taken seriously but he actually used to be (insert gasp) FUN! Now he is looking old (although those frown lines sometimes mysteriously disappear), sounding old and making old people music. There is a difference between maturing and becoming an old fart.

I believe it happened sometime after 2003.

It's almost as if 1992 was twenty plus years ago, and Jon aged those twenty plus years.

It depends on how you slice it. It wasn't an overnight change but a progression. Also with Jon, there is a maturity progress that anyone would expect to see and then there is the Business Man, CEO, Political, Serious change.

Richie progressed too but didn't change who he was. Richie still seems like a fun, genuine, nice guy who wants to still play rock and roll.

There is definitely a different Jon before and after the NJ burnout tour but still a happy Jon. He went from a real laid back kid to more of a money man, however still cool and fun. When he says that his innocence was stripped and he had to grow up, that's what I see. He continued to mature throughout the 90's but remained cool and fun.

I would say somewhere between Bounce and HAND was when the real serious politician business man starting showing up.

I was watching old interviews with him and when the annoying questions were asked, one being his hair for example, he was so cool the way he addressed them. He just went with the flow and laughed them off. You ask him those same question today, he would have a fit. Like a diva bitch.

I'm just saying that he's grown up. I realise the OP did mention that, and the fact they saw a difference between maturing and becoming boring. But it's just the way it is. I don't really care how Jon comes across in interviews etc., as long as he comes across well on stage and on record (although whether he does that is very debatable eh?!)

I feel like Richie went a little too "hollywood rocker" in 2000 or soon after. Picture Stranger in this town era Richie with fashion line. It became all about stats and impressing people with facts and way safe songs.

I actually found the third interesting pretty interesting.

I know what you are saying though, but I wouldn't care about him being serious if the music was good.

I remember Richie being all about the impressive facts in 2000. He called into my local radio station (Y101, Jackson MS) and told them that every album they had released since SWW had sold at least 10 million copies. I remember thinking Richie could get away with bragging like that but if Jon said it, people would say he was arrogant.

This thread title really wants to make it sound like Jon is going through menopause.
