Default When did Richie stop using wireless?

If you have not noticed yet, Richie is the only member in Bon Jovi who is actually plugged in by a wire into his amp. During the 80's Richie, like many other acts went wireless and used that for a while. Yet, on the Live in London DVD he only uses wireless during LYHOM and is plugged in during all the other songs. The explanation for this was to maintain the original tone, because wireless tends to change it, true or not, anyone know when he exactly started plugging back in? I'm guessing it was around the KTF tour but I'm not sure.

He's the only one who uses floor monitors too. The rest of the band uses in-ear monitors.

I remeber an interview where he said something like he hates wireless.

I'll try to find it...

Inner ear is a newer system, floor monitors do virtually the same thing except you are more free to move away from them..etc and hear the crowd instead of just hearing yourself during the entire show. Would love to find that Richie interview regarding wireless.

Umm, yeah... All monitors (in terms of rock band on stage) are speakers that play back what ever the certain member wants to hear. Usually their own instrument and a few others like drums and bass. It's not the same sound as the one coming out of the PA.

this is what I think about the whole "wireless" situation...

If it was good enough (using a wireless setup) for Richie in the 80's, keeping in mind the sound he was getting out from his amps, as well as how much more the shows were exciting since they were free enough to run around the stage like crazy, how can people claim wireless "takes" away the tone and quality?? Does that mean Richie played with a crap shitty sound all throughout the 80's??? I don't think so...

just doesn't make any sense to me especially since we are in the year 2007 with amazing technological equipment available

So you'd like an almost 50-year-old guitarist in a tiny vest dashing all over the stage like a man possessed? I'm sure the guy would lose a massive amount of credibility if he attempted to emulate the Richie Sambora of yesteryear. As much as anybody can try to discredit him, his playing has come on leaps and bounds since the band formed. His ability to pick out a solo in a song is pretty much unrivalled in band-guitarists and he his far better than the man who tried to play 10 notes per second back in the 80's.

I happen to think the sound Richie has had since '95 is far better than that in the late '80s. I daresay a lot of this has to do with the poor mixes that the '80s boots have offered us, yet it still seems that the wired sound has been a lot richer and more organic sounding.
