If it was good enough (using a wireless setup) for Richie in the 80's, keeping in mind the sound he was getting out from his amps, as well as how much more the shows were exciting since they were free enough to run around the stage like crazy, how can people claim wireless "takes" away the tone and quality?? Does that mean Richie played with a crap shitty sound all throughout the 80's??? I don't think so...
just doesn't make any sense to me especially since we are in the year 2007 with amazing technological equipment available

So you'd like an almost 50-year-old guitarist in a tiny vest dashing all over the stage like a man possessed? I'm sure the guy would lose a massive amount of credibility if he attempted to emulate the Richie Sambora of yesteryear. As much as anybody can try to discredit him, his playing has come on leaps and bounds since the band formed. His ability to pick out a solo in a song is pretty much unrivalled in band-guitarists and he his far better than the man who tried to play 10 notes per second back in the 80's.
I happen to think the sound Richie has had since '95 is far better than that in the late '80s. I daresay a lot of this has to do with the poor mixes that the '80s boots have offered us, yet it still seems that the wired sound has been a lot richer and more organic sounding.
