It's just one of my pet peeves. It annoys the hell out of me to hear him sing that wanTED. It practically ruins the song. It's not important in the grand scheme of things, but that's why it's called a pet peeve. It's not like Richie's the lone person who has given me a linguistic pet peeve. My history teacher in high school continually referred to CaTHOLicism as CathoLICism. My mother and many other people say ChiCARgo for ChiCAgo. There's a trend to call Atlanta HOTlanta which I think sounds totally stupid. My friend Colleen always called her PURSE a POCKETBOOK. A pocketbook is something that goes inside a purse. Just a pet peeve--something that might annoy one person and another person may not even notice.

Yep, and it goes with the WANT part, not with the ED part. LOL It's a freakin two syllable word. How hard can it be?

I did a bit of research on this subject in the car this morning on the way to work...

& in fact - Try say wanted - the T goes in the Ted part.

If u stuck a T in the way Jon sings it - It'd sound exactly the same.

New Jersey accent for u I guess.

Even when hes goes Waaaaaaaan'ed - T is found in second part. Its just that Richie adds a few syllables into the Eeeeeeeed bit. But its all good.

Thats the conclusion Dr Mike comes to anyway.

you know I have been wondering why he changed that, i guess now I know.

I totally disagree. And the way he sings wanTED in the Bon Jovi version now makes my skin crawl. He used to sing WANTed until some background singer on one of his solo tours started with that wanTED crap.
