It's still not clear to me as to what is supposed to be
called out?
If it's the simplistic lyrical chorus, it's supposed to be that way. Jon's repeating it in a concerned way to a soldier who he wants to fight for his life. That's where the emotion comes from. Unfortunately it doesn't come across that way due to Jon's emotionless vocal and more so, Shanks' poor production. The production is what should have been called out. Maybe in a studio it does come across that way but it sounds more like a cheerleading team rooting on their favorite football team.
I think this song could work if you take it back to 1992 with Bob Rock on production and a Young Jon on vocals. Slow it down a little and it could be a hidden gem. This is not the type of song that is lyrically driven but musically. It's hard to vision but try to hear it with the production of If I Was Your Mother.
