So that Richie didn't think enough of his "brothers" to not leave them and the audience hanging is documented.
Come on Becky, we all know how many times Jon wanted something from the members and they got convinced. It's highly possible that Jon underestimated a situation and maybe not even Richie himself believed he could do that.

Many, many times the band members mentioned how's dealing with Jon. He tours when he wants, he does breaks when he wants. It's not a secret.

You look very stubborn heh? I'm wondering how long you could take a boss like Jon.

I think many people would have quit a long time ago! But there goals were allinged, something that just wasn't there anymore. It's the way he quit that has fans pissed off, and even more so, cancelling his handful of dates on his aftermath tour. But I truly believe Richie wanted out for a while, and maybe he found himself in a place where he just said to himself (as I have said in some jobs that I've had) "If i don't get out now, I'll just find another reason to stay here unsatisfied for god knows how long". But this has been debated to death, in my opinion the dude is doing what makes him happy and good on him, I just wish he would have chosen a more professional way to end it with the band, and I also wish he would get his act together a lot better. What he had going on his 2012 solo run was actually really freaking cool, he could get back to that level of playing and singing he could gain a lot of respect back from the Bon Jovi fans that have strayed from him lately....

Yeah - this is actually a decent answer. I just cannot get passed the WAY he did it. So hurtful to everyone - except himself of course.

I think it went exactly like you said, once more Jon wanted to tour and he, somehow, convinced once again all the band members. It's like zRichie caught himself in a situation where he wanted to move foward but other people was forcing him to follow other people's dream.

Like you said, it was the same dream for a long time, but not anymore. He was trying to do his solo album since 2005, right? Again, his boss was persuasive and later he realized that he couldn't do that anymore.

Analyzing the history behind the band, Jon, Richie and what the band members said in the past, it's very likely.

I know that the guys in the band have expressed over and over again that Jon is the visionary and they trust his leadership. I also know that Tico, David, and Hugh all could have called it quits by now too. But where are they? With Jon, following his vision and leadership still. He can't be that bad if he can keep band members for 30+ years.

Richie appears to have problems with insecurities and substance abuse. He appears to exercise bad judgment in many aspects of his life, from the women he surrounds himself with to his business ventures including White Trash Beautiful and being unable to fulfill tour commitments--his own and the band's.

Wasn't Jon's fault the ending of the Aftermath tour, the thing wasnt selling, everybody knows it. And I agree, I'm not pissed because he quit, I'm pissed of the way he did, it was a low blow. I get that Jon isn't the best boss but the whole thing worked and still works because the way he do things, right? Richie have all his fame and money because the way Jon worked the band out....

Richie is the only of the members that pursued a career outside Bon Jovi and has a minimal chance to shine outside Bon jovi. He's the co writer of many big hits and it's very respect in the industry on this aspect.

So, where are they?

Off course they're with Jon, clearly they don't have any aspirations in the music business.

And let me just get ahead you, Jon was Richie's boss. Richie did many tours and albums because he enjoyed it but his boss pushed him over and over. Richie's boss promised two years break and Richie thought, "great, I'll have time to record an album and do a little tour", then in the beginning of his mini tour,Richie's boss call him to get back from his break, and you know... It's " I want to tour and if you're not on board you're fired".

Maybe Richie got insecure, because he never wanted to be fired from Bon Jovi but still wanted to do his thing a little but the two years deal was break. So, yah, it seemed he got on board and later figured out he couldn't keep doing that.

So, if you never experienced something like that in your life, when you wanted to do something for you after spending 30 years doing something for others and at the same time didn't want to just get fired, then I have no arguments to keep this discussion.

I really hope you stop this childish behaviour towards him, accept Jon is an asshole as a boss and accept what Jon said: being in a band is not a life sentence, it's just ****ing work.
