Sure he's a consistant, and very average bassist and that's about it. He no more than bobs his head when he plays on stage, and is very lifeless. Given the input they seem to get, especially nowadays, I'd say Jon and Richie are the only truly irreplaceable members of the band (FWIW Dave is actually my favourite band member). As for Hugh being lifeless, I actually like that he just does his job with minimum fuss. I'd rather have a competent bassist around and leave the showponying to the front man/lead guitarist but maybe that's just me.
