I have all the UK issues other than a few promos and She Don't Know Me on 7". On all formats including the various re-issues.

About 20 USA pressings.
About 10 Aussie pressings.
About 30 German pressings.
About 30 Japanese pressings.

Loads of odds and sods of Italian promo's, Greek LOP 12", Taiwan OWN Album with poster, Bon Jovi Live in Brazil (official greatest hits vinyl album from 1989) a few Canadian issues etc etc

I haven't bothered with any of the Japanese albums which have all been re-issued about 10 times.

About 430 items in total over BJ, JBJ and RS stuff on Vinyl, CD, Tape, VHS and DVD. This is a small collection compared to many.

Collecting is all a bit nuts I know, but it soon adds up with old stuff, eg LYHOM was issued in 9 different formats in the UK alone......

Personal favourite is the Living In Sin CD Single Box with Poster, difficult to find in mint condition and the USA 12" Promo for Silent Night, with lots of quotes on the inner sleeve, predicting how big Bon Jovi will become. "The Next Van Halen".

If anyone is interested in scans of the sleeves let me know, albeit most are out there on the auction sites and the main record dealer pages.

I think it was that single that made me no longer want to collect things. The Crush bonus disc was great, but it's also the last great bonus disc they did. The HAND tour edition just lacked that spark.

Absolutely, just (not very good) live tracks rather than studio demos. I remember the band promised that the bonus tracks on various versions of the album (Dirty Little Secret/Unbreakable/These Open Arms) would eventually become available to everyone in some way, which I assumed they'd be released on singles as b-sides. In which case, it wouldn't matter if I bought my home version. (I was only missing "These Open Arms" and "Who Says..." duet with Jennifer Nettles anyway) Plus the tracks from the original 2004 album could have made their way on to singles as well, so there wasn't exactly a shortage of material. Crush and Bounce like you said, had a wealth of great bonus tracks. Some of which were better than what made the final cut, but that's another debate altogether .

I think for the next album I'm going to be extremely cautious. No preorders, I'm gonna wait and see first of all if I like it enough to buy it, which is quite important. Secondly, which version I'm better off buying.

He doesn't actually sing. It's all piano driven instrumentals (other than a version of In these Arms). Lunar Eclipse is an absolutely beautiful record. Room Full of Blues, Kissed by an Angel, Lullaby for Two Moons - absolutely amazing pieces of music. Easily the most artistic record coming from the Bon Jovi camp. I guess that's why people just don't care about it. What did Richie say once? 'F*ck art, let's rock 'n' roll'. Kissed by an Angel still gives me shivers to this day.

You just named some of my favorite tracks from Dave's work. I also adore the instrumental version of In These Arms which is the version on my copy of On a Full Moon. My friend Colleen's copy of On a Full Moon has the vocal version. We used to play my CD all the time so one day when she put her copy in, we were surprised to hear David singing. I think Dave's work is definitely worth checking out. It's beautiful music.

I haven't bought many CD singles since the Crush era. I'm not even sure what's been released post-Crush.

I no longer have a copy of Richie's last CD and I have no plans to replace it or to buy any of his future CDs.

I don't have all the various soundtracks that Bon Jovi songs are on. I do have the Netherworld soundtrack though which is kind of a rarity.

I used to buy everything but now there are too many bills to pay. I hardly ever buy CDs from anyone anymore.

I bought pretty much everything up until LH. After that, nothing. I have most of it on Spotify anyway, and the more obscure album versions/singles/bootlegs/etc I have as mp3. Don't even have my BJ collection left, gave it all to my nephew many years ago (which among other stuff included a signed edition of New Jersey by all the band members).

I really, REALLY, like Lunar Eclipse. Such beautiful pieces of music, and I also think it gives a great view in the musical diversity that David has.

Am glad at least some people agree here....I was going to this thread thinking - "What?? People would rather watch Jon's 'movies' than listen to David's beautiful beautiful music?" It is indeed a spectacular record. Just in case someone cares, ALLMUSIC gives it 4.5/5 stars and had the following review:

Quote:
David Bryan's solo piano recording Lunar Eclipse is an absolutely beautiful, stunning, melodic collection of songs culminating his 17 years as a founding member of Bon Jovi. The pianist/composer/vocalist has sold over 90 million albums as a member of the acclaimed rock group and the compositions on this CD reveal a truly different side of his piano and MIDI orchestration mastery that should translate all over the world. The CD opens with "Second Chance," a song about his own "second chance" after a potentially career-ending injury to his finger; this is among the compositions the rock prodigy has written for a Broadway musical based on characters of the Sweet Valley High book series. "I Can Love" is an instrumental version of a song Bryan wrote for a project called Memphis, a theatrical play based on the life of the DJ Dewey Phillips. Bryan's playing on this song is profound and bluesy, and has a rootsy kind of vibe that is sure to please his legions of fans.

Bryan's classical training is apparent throughout, but the songs "It's a Long Road" and "April" tie for first place as truly great songs in terms of theory, execution, melodic phrasing, and musical motifs. They are absolutely beautiful. On "Up the River," Bryan entices the listener with a trance-inducing fusion of melodic synth sounds and exotic drumbeats. The diversity of styles and compositional forms -- waltzes, pop, classical, blues, R&B, rock -- on this CD is astounding, and reveals just how much musical knowledge is within Bryan's soul. There are 14 excellent instrumental compositions with an added bonus of a rare vocal performance of the hit "In These Arms" that Bryan co-wrote with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora for this great CD. Because of their emotional beauty, all of the songs have the potential to bring tears of joy to listeners' eyes ; Lunar Eclipse is truly a great way to discover the "softer side" of David Bryan. A definite must-have.

Edit: And not sure you guys were aware, but Edgar Winter (Johnny Winter's brother) plays saxophone on Netherworld Waltz (again, such a beautiful piece but already there on his previous record).

- you can see bits and pieces of David and Winter perform in this clip btw

Just out of interest, which is the best version of David's album(s) to get? I know both albums share largely the same track list with some exclusives, but I hear the exclusive tracks differ from region to region.

Yep, I will join the David's music is great crowd too. I wish he had managed to do more down the years, some of its is truly exceptional while the rest is very very good. Would much rather that than own a collection of Jon's turgid movie career, although admittedly I only saw three of his movies and thought enough's enough.
