Well, either way... I'm not aware that Jon has been recognized extensively for his solo work--at least in the US. Outside of the Oscar nod for Blaze of Glory, has he been nominated or won for solo work? Probably not worthy of a lengthy discussion, just an observation...
Yes, he has. He won the Golden Globe and an American Music Award for Blaze. He was nominated for Best Rock Vocal (Male), and Best Song from Movie at the Grammys. It seems like there was another category he was nominated for that year, but I can't remember what it was. He was also nominated for Blaze at the MTV Music Awards. For Destination Anywhere he won a Brit, an Echo (German), an MTV Europe Award, and 3 honors at an Australian award show. Now you're aware.

I'll have to say Jon...

-no I mean Richie,
no, Jon,
-well Richie's very good,
but Jon's got a great singing voice,
-yeah but Richie is one of the greatest guitarists EVER,
and Jon has had more success with his solo albums,
-but the band wouldn't be the same without Richie's guitar,
Jon is the one who started the band...

... and the argument goes on!

As I stated, I was thinking American awards/recognition; I certainly knew about the AMA's, the Oscar, etc. That's totally cool about the other awards, too... but I think DA wasn't recognized much at all in America (in particular, the Grammy's.) I guess I think "Blaze" is nice but not exactly stellar... I guess my idea of "extensive" is different. Not to take away from the accomplishments, but I think few people (relatively speaking) are even aware of DA--no matter how much we might like it...

As far as the Oscar nod goes... as proud as I was, let's face it... some really sad, sorry songs have fallen into that category. I think maybe that's why Jon hasn't received the respect he should have perhaps received because of it. And the AMA's, well...anyone remember Milli Vanilli?

Slightly off topic here: I know Beethoven was an excellent composer but I don't know what musical instrument he played. Anyone has any information on this? Also, did he act as a conductor back then?

Oh..is this thing still going on??

Bring it On people...

This is all opinion thingy... You are not right or wrong... Posting replies will not change other opinions...

(e.g. Posting here how good and better musician Richie is to Becky will not change her opinion on how great Jon is..anyway...)

so don't waste your time, ppl... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion

The replies started to repeate themselves.I mean you are all sying the same.
You wrote there what Jon said about Richie. But Richie said something like Jon is the most amazing frontman he has ever seen.He said that noone does his job better than Jon.

Actulaly ,I don't know why I am writing here because I do just repeate what other say.

The only original think i can say is: I LIKE RICHIE BETTER THAN JON TODAY BUT I'LL PROBABLY LIKE JON MORE TOMORROW.

However, critics say RICHIE is the better musician and they say if he weren't a BJ member he would have been at least a second ERIC CLAPTON.But Jovi fans did never really care about critics.
