Why doesn't that surprise me? Then again, why should I care? You said you haven't listened to Richie's records more than ten times. Who are you to judge his music? I think Richie is the better musician for obvious reasons. However, I'm not ignorant enough not to care for Jon's music and I actually like most of it. I saw 4 shows on his Destination Anywhere Tour and I had a great time. You are the narrow-minded person here, Becky.

You know, I actually think you're right about that. However, because of the lack of respect show to Jon and HIS fans on this board, I realize that if I did criticize Richie, all it would accomplish is hurting other people's feelings or making people angry. It would be seen as retaliation moreso than just an honest opinion. So what's the good of it? I would never state my opinion to cause controversy. I think that's pointless. I don't hate Richie. I'm not going to put him down just for the sake of putting him down or because I think if I put him down it would make Jon look better. How silly is that? How unimportant is that? Afterall, it's just an opinion, and mine isn't going to amount to an epiphany for anyone else any more than someone else's will for me. Credit it to the golden rule if you want, but I'm not going to hurt other people over an opinion. I know how fans are--we can take this stuff pretty seriously. It's useless and meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

This is a message board where people are free to post their opinions. You seem to post lots of views onn everything else, so why not post them on this? Could it be that your reasons for not liking him (even though you say you do) are just personal?

No. It's not. I love Richie as a person and had a difficult time accepting that I didn't like his voice or his solo work. I tried to MAKE myself like his stuff. But, eventually, I realized I didn't have to MAKE myself like something just because he was Richie. I truly do not like his voice or his records. Life goes on. I buy his solo CDs (which is a lot more than the majority of Bon Jovi fans do) and support his solo career. But I can't MAKE myself enjoy his singing or songs.

I noticed that you edited your above post to take a personal slags at me, implying I don't have real friends in the real world, instead of waiting for me to reply. So, I find it difficult to think you may be really be concerned with my opinion. That makes it appear that you're just, once again, looking to pick a fight. Don't you ever get bored with that? If you're so in search of intelligent conversation, you might have more luck if you could carry on one without insulting the person taking the time to converse with you.

Hell, I'll post my real opinions on Richie..

Richie Sambora is a great guitar player but I've heard little music that he's written all on his own. His voice is sometimes good but he often sounds like he's sitting in the studio jumping up and down while he sings...that being the reason for all the shakiness sounds in his voice.


Richie has been ruining the Everyday performances.. Every time I've heard "Everyday" other than once on U.S.A , Richie has ruined the performance with these..well..gross .. backing vocals.


I like Jon's version of Rosie more than Richie's.. Richie's lacks emotion..just like I think everything he sings lacks emotion. Take the music away from his songs, maybe you'll see.

Why is everyone fighting? The purpose of this thread was to state our opinion on who we - PERSONALLY and as INDIVIDUALS - prefer as a musician. I stated my opinion by comparing both Richie and Jon's solo recordings. I enjoy Richie's more - so what? That's not to say that I don't adore Jon just the same! If I didn't like Jon - his voice, his instrumental skill, his songwriting - I probably wouldn't be a fan of Bon Jovi. Fact is though, I LOVE Bon Jovi and every single one of the members is what makes the band what I love.

I feel like if I don't make the above statement, all those who prefer Jon will "hate" me. I feel like if I DO make the above statement, all my Sambo brothers and sisters will be upset with me.... All the same - it's a matter of opinion. This entire thread was merely a matter of opinion. There was no need to take stabs at each others' opinions - was there? Bashing or praising one talent over the next isn't going to change which musician a person prefers.... I apologize for singling this statement out, but did we really need to say "HA HA HA HA! You are really making me laugh tonight! What are you drinking? Can I have some?" in reference to someone's opinion on enjoying Richie? After reading this entire thread, I'm seeing that that is what made heads start to roll..... Someone took a stab at the Richie fans - so the Richie fans took stabs right back....

In the end, IT DOESN'T MATTER who we prefer or why we prefer them!! I assume he/she who started the post started it out of curiosity -- not to start a battle between "Richie fans" and "Jon fans"....
