No, Hyde Park was not meant to be released on DVD. It's why the footage on the DVD is of such poor quality. Many fans kept asking for official footage so the band eventually released some songs. Watching that footage it's quite obvious why they wouldn't release it as the performance just wasn't very good. Hyde Park was entertaining and good fun, but a good show? Not so much, Jon's voice was shot and the band sounded tired.

Live from London was never released in full because the footage was shot by the BBC and there was a rights issue. Bon Jovi don't own the rights to the recording apart from what was shown on TV making it the only thing they were able to release. I'm not even sure Bon Jovi has the masters stored somewhere either. Obie once mentioned this a long, long time ago on bonjovi.com after someone asked why the DVD release didn't contain more songs even though Bon Jovi had little to do with the DVD release anyway.

I get why Hyde Park wasn't released either. It was long, as you say, but the band was cleary tired and Jon's voice gone. If they went to pull out anything from the archives of that tour, I'd hope for Munich. Best post-2000 concert for me.

About Live in London: That's how I remember it, too. Which is a shame because I think BBC filmed it on 16mm which means that the footage could easily be scanned to proper HD material (like Queen in Montreal '81) and make for an outstanding show. But then again, that'd cost some money and we know that Jon wasn't even willing to pay for Hammersmith 1990 being remastered.

I always yearned for Hyde Park to get a DVD. I think perhaps because it was the last time they were just a five piece with everyone where they should be and doing what they should be

I remember being at that Hyde Park show. I can't remember much about the performance but it felt like a special day. The vastness of the crowd was insane.

It was. That crowd was something else but it was being there that made it special. A DVD of it won't capture whatever it was like being there. No one wanted to go home after the encore but the actual encore was poor and I remember thinking the entire atmosphere changed once the band actually kept playing. Still one of the best crowds I ever saw at a Bon Jovi show.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

On the subject, I wish they would start releasing more stuff for the fans. The New Jersey one was good but other than that they don’t really go out of their way.

I imagine that once they retire, the vaults will open up and a steady flow of old live shows will be released.

Or not, it depends how well shows have been archived I suppose. Springsteen releases random shows from the 70s to this day and they sound perfect.
