I'm glad to see there's some interest. The way I'm thinking it could work a little like this.

We could keep track of who is sending what to whom via the postboard. For instance, if I get the Chicago show (and quite honestly I don't know what shows I'll be getting so it's just an example), then I will post to whom I send it:

For example:

Becky is sending CHICAGO 2003 to letitrock, Mikey D, and Sambo Chris.

Then letitrock is sending it to Late, Mongoose, and joviromeo.

Mikey D is sending it to....
Sambo Chris is sending it to...

Late is sending it to.....

etc...

Of course, not everyone will be interested and eventually someone will get a show and not have anyone to send it on to, but that's okay. They'll do their part with a later show and someone else will wind up not having to send any out.

For those of you who don't have "anything" to trade, that's where the community part comes in. CDs are cheap and I'm sure some of us could help you get a collection started. Everyone starts somewhere. I started with 5 audio tapes and a video of Giants Stadium 1989 and my collection has grown considerably.

I know nothing about VCD technology, so I can't comment on it. LOL

However, we could also do this with videos. I could be the go between for the different video systems because I have a VCR that converts. If I take a US video and convert it to PAL and send it on to someone in Europe or Australia. Or if someone in Australia or Europe makes a tape, I can convert it for NSTC and send it on to people in the USA, Canada. etc...

The only thing I ask people to keep in mind with me personally is my health is always iffy so sometimes I'm slower in getting things done.

Any more comments, suggestions?

Becky

I doubt many of us would have systems strong enough to handle that.

Personally, I'll have to borrow my brother's computer to even burn CDs.

I think that each medium needs to have it's own community. Most peopl will be able to trade CD's because burners are very common.

Less will be able to to VHS/PAL tapes because they are time consuming and more of a hassle. Those who are interested in a trading community of videos should have a separate community from the CD/VCD. people can belong to all the communities if they want, but people that trade CD's should not be obligated to trade videos.

The same goes for DVD's. right now DVD burners are not too common among fans. It would be great to see a small community start with this but it seem s very unlikely to happen in the forseeable future. perhaps when the burners are much cheaper and more common they will be the new standard of trading...but for now I recommend we start with CD's and VCD's.

If we do too much too soon we'll swanp ourselves and could become discouraged...let's take baby steps to get this off the ground propersly.

peace,

Mikey D

Exaclty, what I was goign to say... no one should feel obligated to swap any medium, just what they can. A requirement of all things would make it impossible for some people to join.

For me, videos are no problem at all. I put them in, let it go for two hours, and come back to it. I DO NOT search for a series of clips though--that's where the hassle is.

CDs will be a little harder for me, because I'll have to go to another computer, but I can do them. I think my brother's computer will do VCDs, but I don't know.

So, anyone who's interested, please post what you're interested in doing.

I don't think there would be a need for separate forums, but we could head label each topic like:

VIDEO: A& E Biography
CD: Chicago 2003
VCD: Otro Rollo

etc...

I think this is an EXCELLENT idea! I have been wanting to get into trading for quite a while now, but, like Shaun, I have nothing to trade and, like Becky said, no one seems to want to sell their collections. Starting a Dry County Trading Community would be a great way to help some of us start building a collection of our own, and I, for one, would be very greatful to everyone involved.

Regarding VCDs, I know that I can use my regular CD burner to burn .mpg files to a disk and watch them on my DVD/VCD player, but I cannot guarantee this will work for all players or all file formats...sorry if this isn't helpful, but it's all I know!

I can send Toronto 2003 VCD to Taija(she can send it to Laura and some other people, I believe), Mike and Mongoose(or if he doesnīt want it then someone else).

Thatīs my first share for this program. I really would be interested in knowing how
is this program supposed to work? Where do we post?

PETER, create a new forum, pretty please.

I think we should create somekind of rules. I can provide the website, if thatīs necessary.

I can also do VCDs, SVCDs and ordinary CDs but I canīt copy VHS.

How do we decide what will we put into circulation? A vote? How? Or just spontaneously?

And Goose, if you want the show, PM me.
Otherwise someone else will get it.

having said that it's probably best to concentrate on the new material at the moment - maybe do the older stuff when the tour stops ??

what do you think??
