In Brazil Bon Jovi and BJ fans are ridicularized...
This is the best words about Bon Jovi that the brazilian press said: Guns and roses are just a Bon Jovi generation member.

What i think about this: the guys in this time are a Models, not a rock and roll band. See the pictures of Bounce. And songs like "misunderstood" and "All About Lovin' You" is so POP MUSIC, and in this country we hate POP.

But, in 1993/97, Bon Jovi are the greater american band in Brazil, KTF and These days win platinum disc. In 1997 Jon release Destination Anywhere, and his reputation disappear. Aerosmith and U2 are so exalted by general public because his frontman are ugly, Jon not.

Sorry for my bad english... :P

I don't see how Jon's reputation could have dissapeared just from releasing Destination Anywhere. Sure it may have been more of a pop record but of all things, it wasn't supposed to sound anything like a typical Bon Jovi record. It was "Jon Bon Jovi" doing something completely different from the normal Jovi sound (if there is one)..

That was an experimental solo project that had nothing to do with the band I think Jon deserves credit for pulling it off.. Every artist is allowed to branch out a bit from their usual style and I believe a rock artist deserves the creative freedom to express themselves with a new sound.. Overall great album IMO... it ain't Jovi, but I have a greater respect for Jon as a musician because of it.

I agree that their recent efforts have shown Bon Jovi as more of a pop band though. Im hoping for a return to the Jovi of old with the next album (looking good so far but... we'll see) and less drum machines etc.

I thought Crush was good despite being pop cause it was a solid return and bought them a new generation of fans to appreciate their music.. I think every band is allowed one pop record....Bounce on the other hand, was not the follow up I was hoping for. At this point I agree Jovi need to rock again (though Bounce had some pretty good rockers) and lose the pop image. TLFR just pushed them further into the quicksand..

2005 will hopefully be a good year for Jovi...The new album already sounds better than TLFR at least

. Motley Crue, who eventually went VERY pop metal, still seem to hold respect in the metal community that they maintain to this day.

But I'll tell you one thing. For the newer fans who think you get slack for being a fan now...you don't even want to imagine how hard it was during the Grunge invasion. That was a living hell, and I'm sure many others would agree with me on that.

In my opinion, the first four albums rock WAY harder than anything post-KTF. Even when the older songs are played live...that edge just isn't there anymore and I've never really been able to put my finger on why. Maybe it's Jon's voice and Sambora's playing both, like someone else said.

Plus, I may get flamed for saying this...but making appearances on Ally McBeal, exclusive deals with Target and QVC isn't very rock 'n roll either and makes them an even easier target on the rock/metal community

I've always thought that now a days, Jon acts more like a superstar as opposed to a rock star if that makes any sense.
ok, This might sound strange .
I THINK MOTLEY CRUE STILL HAS RESPECT BECAUS E OF ALL THE DIRT THAT CAME OUT.... TOMMY'S xx VIDEO WITH PAM...lol
OR ALL THE GARBAGE THEY RELEASED....They are Bad Boy's of Rock.
JoVI HAS no dirty laundry OR SCANDELS THAT WENT really tv public!!
The only thing I remember JON did bad that made it to the headlines was: breaking into an ice rink ROTF!!!
They aren't portrayed as BAD BOYS like the rest of the 80 bands.
They have a clean image... and some Like the BAD BOYS!!!!
Think about it, besides some ruors of JOn's cheating waaay back, or drug use, there's really NO DIRT on THEM.... oh the Book from the security guy, (NICE READ)
They don't air out Dirty Laundry, and that's right from JON.....
I don't care what anyone thinks... My devotion to this band is because of the Music. Because I connect with it... Not all, some songs i think what the F??? were they thinking...
But If you don't get the Music, you'll never get BON JOVI.
and I say fine with me... just an extra closer seat for me at a show, that I know will Rock and I'll have a great time.... Money well worth spent... speaking of shows...
If Bon Jovi is so hated , how do they sell out arena's????
I hear some comments from guys with thier girlfreinds.. example:
the seat next to me.... Man I hate JOVI... you better make it up to me when we get home... (guy says to his girl)
But then I see him standing and rockin out....
If yas hate them so much 1. why r u here?
2. why are you enjoying the show???? ROTF!!!
something I still don't get :P

What I think is so stupid is for people say, "It's because they've become a POP band." They've always been a POP band. Back in that oft-referenced glorious heyday of their "really rocking records," they had #1 singles and top 10 singles and best selling CDs that were on top of the charts for months at a time. Their video releases in the 80's were among the best sellers at the time... both the Breakout and Slippery videos broke records in sales. They were a constant fixture on MTV. If that doesn't make them a POPular band, what does? They were probabaly more pop in the 80's than they have been since. Even then, Jon and Richie were the pretty-boy pinups, Jon's face would sell any magazine, and Richie was dating actresses, starlets, and models. In the public persona, the only things that have changed is their faces don't grace as many magazine covers, Richie's married to an actress, and Tico's the one getting all the models. Jon's recognized as an actor and businessman, Tico is recognized as an artist, and Dave has branched out into musicals while Richie is branching out into real estate. They're not nearly as in-your-face-all-the-time popular as they were in the 80's when you could go to any grocery store and buy 4 new magazines with them on the cover every week: Metal Edge, Blast, Bop, Big Bopper, Teen, Teenbeat, 16, Tigerbeat, Rip, Hit Parader... and those are just the titles I can remember off the top of my head. They were the pop icons that every other act tried to rip-off.

Excellent point, Becky! I don't like it when people say, "they've turned into a pop band" either.
