Yeah, I really agree with just about everything Mimi and Val said.

I too got the impression with the last album/tour especially, that JBJ was just going on auto-pilot alot of the times. Like Mimi said, the soul, the passion, the fire, the fun, whatever you wanna call it, was just missing to a large degree. Don't get me wrong, he was still amazing and IMO still a better frontman then anyone in the business but I think it was a case of "oh right, new album is out, that means a tour, so what's for dinner then?"

I think that's maybe the reason he's so into the Philly Soul. He's said himself that he's got such a rush out of it and presumabley he got that fire and passion back.

I think we are going to see a very different Jon Bon Jovi and a very different Bon Jovi with this new album though. They seem really charged up, really ready to "retake the world" so to speak. All the new songs I've heard are truly spectacular and so much better then anything on Crush or Bounce (and remember I really like those albums). They seem to have recaptured the essence of who they are and hopefully that will allow them (and Jon especially) to recapture, like Val said, what drove them to get into music in the first place.

I truly do think the future of Bon Jovi is very bright. JBJ has said that TLFR closed out Chapter 3 of the band and I feel Jon is ready to make chapter 4 very special. Also I loved watching the Box Set DVD because you could see a different JBJ. You could see the excitment, the passion, the enjoyment and the fire back again.

I agree with Jovimimi, but I do with Jovi-obsession too.

I think they have their reasons. And I agree with most of them. The auto-pilot is a reality, but not to send the band to hell.

Let's wait for the new album and the new tour.

Bounce tour gave me some surprises like the semi-acoustic concerts (Kiel?). And the last gig rocked! The rest, well, almost everyone were auto-pilot...

i agree to a certain extent with the points seb is making, the auto pilot thing for sure, what they have lost is credibilty with the rock fan on the street, bands such as Maiden,UFO,Aerosmith,Scorpions,Metallica have this credibilty, they may not be hip or cool but they rock and have stayed more or less to their roots.I still love the band and will follow them on the upcoming tour.lets hope they don't do captain crash, misunderstood, shout, etc.lets hope for varied set lists and some good ole tunes such as wild is the wind, although we know they won't.
what i hope is that they don't become a parody of themsellves in the way that the quo did,but even they're back now playing the old stuff, back rockin.the problem with jon is that he thinks he's doing cool things for the fans, the upcoming nokia show for example, but yet again this is in the usa so why we should we care.but this whole usa v the rest of the world thing is a different kettle of fish.
