because of the fans, the band sales more than everywhere in japan, so japaness fans get the best version, their middle sales are in eroup, they get the half-good version. thier last sales are in us and canada, they get the worst version...

It's all about marketing. Each teritory is controlled by a different label (all essentiall y Island DefJam, but different in each country.) It might be that in Europe they have decided that it'll only sell well if you bundle a DVD with it. In Japan, they were popular long before they were in the US, and as such have always had bonus stuff on their discs.

Another way of looking at it would be that the US has, over the years, had much more touring that other countries - look at the Bounce tour, 2 North American legs....1 in Europe, 1 in Japan...NONE anywhere else...so they might want to give more to the rest of the world as the US gets more in the way of live shows.

Who knows....just buy the import if your that upset, you can get it on the net quite cheap.

Oh, and while we're on the subject....how about the fact that the US got the Target Red CD, AND the QVC package....where-as nowhere else in the world did....hmmm??? Don't hear you mentioning that now do we?

It's because in America the CDs are very cheap and they want to prevent that the people from other countries import the cheaper CDs from the USA.

^^ What Sambo Chris said its all about stopping imports. Japan always gets the most and then Aust usually gets a few bonus tracks. Its to make us all buy it from our own countries.

Japan always seem to get the best deals with albums. They got neurotica and postcards from the wasteland from crush and bounce. Now they get "have a little faith" one cover I was looking forward to hearing.

I do think it is a combination of factors.
For the Eastern market it is about imports. CD's are stupidly expensive over there so they have to entice people to buy within their boundaries, hence Japan always gets extra tracks, etc.

For the european market, I'm not sure. CD's in UK have never been cheaper and I don't think we are getting the DVD to prevent us from shopping in the USA or elsewhere.

I do think the USA is being punished over this, yes, they did get extras like the QVC thing, but I have that and have you seen it? It aint that good! I'm sure they would rather have the extra tracks or dvd than a B movie video set put to the music of a B standard album!

I am wondering whether there is a historical reason still at work here and a commercial reason from the record company.

Historical reason - USA still being punished for deserting the band during the These Days and Destination Anywhere era when sales in the rest of the world stood firm or went up. I have seen interviews with Jon and this really got to him

Commercial reason - Bon Jovi's record comapny is fairly clued in to just how diehard a lot of the core fans are. There are people who will spend more money getting the album from somewhere else. It doesn't matter where you spend it, it goes to the same multi national company, so by segmenting the world up into regions and giving each region a different verison they are hoping we will buy at least 2 and maybe even 3 of the versions. Its cold and calculating and I don't know of many other bands who do this, perhaps there are?

Just get on ebay and buy a copy of yokohama, then you wont feel the need to own the tracks! The dvd is more problematic because they could try and regionalise it.

Bon Jovi is not the only band that have different releases in different countries. Other bands do the same.

I don't know which is the reason....one thing I know...If I was an american/canadian fans I'd be very disappointed.
It's since Keep the Faith that american versions have less songs than other ones.
