Default Why do BJ ¢ar€ about the chart$?

Why do BJ still let chart success influence their writing? Why is being in the charts so important to them? Other artists do fine without being in the charts: when did Aerosmith last have a hit single, or the Rolling Stones? As long as BJ have a good reputation as a live band, people will continue to come and see them. I don't understand why commercial success is more important to them than critical success.
