This is different to what you're doing how? You're the one starting threads everywhere about how good the single is.

This I agree with, totally. Which is why the next part by you is total bullshit.

don't shoot the band for not playing what you want them to play
Everyone has the right to say what they want. You just said so yourself.

don't call post 2000 material shit cause it ain't (it just not what you want). And so on...
Who are you to say if it's shit or not? You might like it, some others don't. Like you said, everyone's entitled to an opinion.

There's no rule saying the forum is for praising the band only. That's backstage.

You can say what you want hear, even if other people don't want to hear it.

I've been reading through this thread, and I have to say, I don't think that either view really expresses the point right to be honest, at least in my opinion. Everyone has a right to hate a certain song/album that the band has done, and yeah even everything they've done since 1995. I'm all for dissent, and there many Bon Jovi songs I hate, and a lot of things the band does that I disagree with. I think the problem really lies with the fact that there are segments on both sides of the debate who see their opinion as gospel. Either the "haters" are just bitter, or the "blind followers" have "no taste." In the grand scheme of things, no one is right. It all really is a matter of taste. I know that's cliched to say, but it's true. Someone thinking the new single, new album, or even the last four albums are crap does NOT damage their fandom, but someone enjoying the single/record/2000's material DOES NOT make them some blind follower with no taste. For either side to speak like that is immensely arrogant IMHO.

We are practising it as a band next weekend with a view to playing it at the gig we have in Wick the following week. I imagine it'll probably make a number of appearances in the setlists over the coming months as well.

Back to the topic though, I can understand why people don't like the song and to a certain extent I agree with them too (or maybe it's just empathy).

On the other hand, I like it. I can't give you an exact reason or analysis as to why I like it in the same way I can't really answer why I like IML. Neither carry the lyrical depth of older songs nor the musical diversity but there's something about them that just makes them 'likeable' and I actually think that's part of the magic of music.

Some songs just grab you and you can't put your finger on why. Both songs I would have liked had they been released by any artist not just because they are Jovi tunes. Simples!

I don't think people think the band are s**t ... I just think people are just fed up with some of the stuff they bring out lately.

I'm all for rock ... but at the same time, I like post 2000 stuff. It's just a matter of opinion. If some people aren't happy with some of the stuff they do, they voice their opinion. If some people love the stuff they do, then they post what they think.

Arguments are always going to happen.

Ain't that the truth, sister!

When It's My Life came out I only knew Bon Jovi by Bad Name, which I really loved. And considering It's My Life is nothing like Bad Name I had no idea it was the same band, plus I never listened to DJ's talking on the radio when I was young, I just waited for the music.

I just figured some Nickelback type of band did that song and it was a one-hit wonder.

It wasn't until 2005 I found out it was by Bon Jovi. That's probably why I don't mind all the post-2000 material, because I was into it before I had heard anything other than Bad Name of their classic era.

This is a ridiculous thread. Don't question why people are on the forums, everybody is here for an obvious reason. We are fans of the band, whether it's all their work, or maybe only the pre-2000 stuff. If you can't accept that people don't like some music they're putting out, then you're a bit of an idiot. We all accept you like it. What's wrong with not liking the new song? Elvistico and Jeeper (suprisingly, considering I've argued with Jeeper before, Elvistico mainly), you're worse fans of the band than the people who don't like the new stuff, for not giving them any insentive to make better music and up their game.

Bon Jovi are a different beast to what they were, it happens to all bands. Things change, people change.

But everyone is gonna download or buy the new album and then go to see the band live because the magic is still there.

I agree. Good point.

Also, maybe it's not only about Bon Jovi, it's just talk man. There are subjects that me and my friends discuss over and over, topics that never die. This is just one of them. We would be posting here and giving our humble opinion even if the band said "we will never release a good album again, and there's a lot more shit from where the last one came from (:"

Enough will never be enough, because I at least don't have any hope that BJ will do something truly memorable again. (apart from random live gigs)

Also, you can't expect a band that made so many great songs and was such a huge influence on us as people to fade away, what really got to you never fades.

The band aren't shit, but if they were, I'd still want to talk about them because they've been MY band for the past 20 years. I met my wife because of them. I've met a lot of good friends because of them
