An artist who mentions politics in shows is basically abusing his position by inflicting his views on fans who hold his opinions in high regard. What makes the artist think that he is right? Basically his attitude is that this is my opinion and since you are my fans it will be your opinion too.

It is very arrogant of the 'highly educated' Jon to voice his opinion on Iraq, and I am glad that some poeple booed him at the concert whose review I read over in the tour section. I am not saying I disagree with him, but a rock concert is no place for politics, solely for the reasons mentioned above.
disagree... he may be rich etc... but the stage is still a platform for him to say what he wants to... and I applaud him for doing it probably knowing he'd get some boos...
Everyone on stage stating his/her political opinion must be aware of getting boos. Jon shouldn't expect his fans to totally agree with him just because they are his fans. Politicla attitude has nothing to do with musical attitude. The people who booed have bought tickets to see a rock conert. Because of Jon's speech they might have changed their opinion about him or the whole band and music has nothing to do with it. I think it's that fans lose illusions because their stars reveal their attitudes. Anyway, Jon helped Al Gore during his election campaign and that's ok. That had nothing to do with the rockstar Jon Bon Jovi but with the political commited Jon Bongiovi. There was no crowd to be entertained.
But, as some of you already said, in concerts music is supposed to do the talking!!!

OK, Jon is not stupid. Contrary to what many of you are assuming, I can't imagine Jon would make comments from the stage on a topic that is political and automatically expect all in the crowd to agree with him like blind sheep. He's a smart guy - he had to have know it would rub some the wrong way and yet he made the choice to make his statement from his stage. But assuming that Jon a) assumes he's right and b) assumes all his fans will automatically agree with him is assanine and intentionally not giving Jon enough credit...

Secondly, if Jon stumped for Gore and you voted for Gore just because a rock star supported him, you're an idiot. You should have done the research and voted for the person you felt would be the best president, regardless of who spoke out in his behalf. If you were turned off to Bon Jovi's music because Jon Bon Jovi supported Gore, you weren't a fan of the music to begin with. If you don't like Jon's political opinions or that he took a minute amount of time out of a what, two hour show, to make a political statement and you've changed your opinion about the band and the music, how shallow were you in the first place? If you like the music, you like the music. You don't have to agree with everything the band says and does... I love U2's music but I'm sick of hearing Bono tell me how to spend my money. Doesn't mean I won't listen to a U2 cd...

Many won't have bought their tickets for that reason... but I do see what you are saying. Concerts are always interesting when you find out something about someone straight from their mouths rather than 2nd or 3rd or nth hand in a newspaper column.
