Default Why is Jon's voice getting weaker?

I have seen Jon's voice a lot weaker, and he did sing in Shepherds Bush quite well. But after listening to Santa Fe and some of New Jersey and Keep the Faith i ponder if Jon could still hit those notes. It's crap saying people's voices change with age. Has Steve Tyler or Bono's voices got weaker? I think not

I have to agree with Santa Fe, in fact the Blaze album in my opinion has the best Vocals from Jon out of all the albums. (Solo and BJ)

I don't know if it is getting weaker, but he is getting older! But still sounds good to me.

I disagree, its just a change in the style he sings

and Bono has never really had a powerful voice like Jons

Jon's voice doesn't seem to be much weaker, but he has changed his style of singing to fit with the album theme. For example, SSW/NJ will have the louder Jon, TD/Crush will have the softer rocking voice.

I don't think I've ever noticed Bono's voice change in style or in strength. Steve Tyler's has changed in style, listen to the earlier stuff (Dream On) his voice sounds very different to a song like 'Pink'. Thant's what I say anyway!

fair enough saying that his voice changes with the style of album, but when he sings live he doesn't seem to have that extra power in his voice he did years back

I agree I think the best Jon vocals are on Keep the Faith (in fact ktf is my all time fav BJ album), I also feel that since These Days up to Bounce he seems to be singing kinda out of his nose and not from the depths of his soul like most decent singers, yes I cringed watching the New York gig on channel 4 because his voice was in my opinion so damn weak it was almost embarrasing !!!

Just my 2 pennies worth....please dont jump on me cos' I'm not a big Jon fan !!!

Jon does NOT sing out of his nose. First of all, his vocal coach (which he's seen since the New Jersey tour) will not allow him. Secondly, I don't think it's weaker at all. I think "Bounce" has the best vocals ever. Jon is better live now than he was years ago because of experience, and the fact that his voice has been trained. Jon can still hit the notes, but even HE says it's stupid. I think it's so bad for people to say that Jon can't hit certain notes when HE even says he can, but often chooses not to.

Not only that, but people have off-nights.. (Jon is only human).

Anyway, this topic is kinda' old.

I COULD NOT DISAGREE MORE.....i own U2's Live from Boston...and Bono's voice has gotten much weaker, he cant sing with or without you and he even has problems with Beautiful Day... Jon is getting older and his style has changed a bit, but yes his voice has gotten a bit weaker. He compensates well though and still puts on one of the best shows out there.

I think anyone who thinks Jon's voice sounds "weaker" on Bounce should be checked for wax buildup and possibly an ear infection. Are we listening to the same CD? His voice is powerful! He sounds amazing! Seriously... get your hearing checked. Come by my office. I can do it for you.
