Default Why so much negativity towards BJ on this board?

I admit, Im relatively new to the board. When I joined I thought I was joining a forum to discuss a common like for all of us. Boy was I wrong. It seems some on this board exist just to criticize BJ for anything and everything.

There is a war going on in one thread about an upcoming 30 minute webcast? Why the argument? Its free content they don't have to give you. Don't be so sensitive that Richie won't be there. If for that reason you don't want to watch...don't. Me, if Im at home, I'll check out the free content they don't have to give me.

Then there is the debate about Richie. Let me just give you my perspective. I was at the first show without Richie in Atlanta in 2011. When Richie going to rehab was announced, I was so scared they would cancel. If they did I would have lost a lot of money invested in hotels and travel. Not to mention, my family would have missed out on the experience. I was so thankful that Jon was resourceful enough to be able to give me a great experience that was worth my money. Was a little something missing? Sure. Did I get a great show? Absolutely. Again, just my 2 cents.

Sure we can debate the direction of the band and whats missing and all the things that made us love BJ in the first place. But it just seems some on this board were never fans to begin with. If thats the case, why do you post?

There's my question....call me a kool-aid drinker or whatever and feel free to blast away.

I personally think there are some great debates on this band and their output on here. Some have loved this band since before others on here were born but you never get any hierarchical 'Listen, kid... ' bull sh*t on here, which is what makes it a community. Embrace the difference of opinion and enjoy the debate.

Also, look on the brightside; the 'LEAVE JON ALONE YOU M*THERF*CKERS!!!!' crowd are going to wrap you in a blanky and keep you safe and warm forever...

BTW: Just had a look at the thread you're talking about... take that with a pinch of salt. Some things you feel strongly about and post replies, others are just too ridiculous to even comment on.

Everytime I see this I post the same thing... It's more that we micro analyse a hell of a lot of things here. It's not all negative, but there are negative points. At the end of the day, we are mostly discussing negative things between us as fans, whilst defending Jovi to the masses. Its like my favourite football team analogy, we will slag them off if they perform badly and moan between fans, but we will still go and support them and defend them from outside criticism where we see fit- see the reports on Richie's departure for a case in point.

Current Bon Jovi is very much polarising opinion among fans both here and not on here, there are many people who are fans of the touring band, but not of any of their material. There are people who prefer the new stuff. There are people who are rabid Jon/Richie fan boys/girls and there are people who have been seeing the band live for years. There's plenty of different opinions, but if you think its too negative feel free to jump in and re-dress the balance. I don't find posts just saying "Its too negative" particularly helpful, if you disagree add to the discussion, if you feel the negative outweighs the positive, come in and say why. Its what message boards are for.

Thank god for the negativity on this board, it's a place where you can speak your mind.
Truthfully, in other boards I always felt it was no use in saying what I thought about BJ-related stuff because it was like talking to a bunch of zombies that loved every single fart Jon gave them. Here there are some people that didn't love the smell of that fart and are willing to talk about it and how they don't want to be farted on anymore.

No band goes without criticism but BJ had such a change in quality/direction of their music that the debate was guaranteed. Add to that the terrible PR handling, the tendency to Jon solo records, lots of stuff that bursts your bubble and maybe makes you think "Wow not everything they do is so great, maybe I could ask more of them, since they used to deliver".

I think its always like this on band forums. GNR, Aerosmith... in their own forums, people bash them as well. lol. And mostly same thing - old shit >>> new shit, lead singer sucks or is a douche, bad setlist, etc...

Generally speaking I think this forum is pretty objective and realistic when analyzing the band. Fact is the vast majority of members on here spend a very decent amount of time, money and effort following this band and its a good place to come and vent any frustrations and to share opinions with people who actually give a toss about the same thing you do.

For all the negatives there is a lot of praise and love on the board if you look in the right threads! I'm a member of two other band forums and this is the best in every aspect.

The negativity is down to the simple fact that jon has not made Bobby an official member or the lead guitarist instead of that sambrero fella
