Thats totally whats been getting on my nerves for years now.

The main thing i took away from the movie was that (in my opinion) had Jon not become the manager after they fired Doc then Bon Jovi would not have had as much commercial success as they have.

On the other hand Jon wouldnt be such a miserable sod if he was just the front man of the band.

During the crush and own tours Jon really looked like he was having a lot of fun and enjoying himself. Each tour since then Jon seems to have become increasingly uptight.

When he was asked about the 02 ticket prices the other day he lied so badly. It wasn't just the lie that he didn't know about it , it was the fact that he went on to say "I dont know that they were richly priced". Lie badly once Jon and pretend you dont know that its a story but dont then make it worse with that crap.

He then had a little moan about going on tour for two years.... well he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to. Like he`s doing someone a favour?

I just wish he would get over himself and remember why he got into it in the first place.

Im going to see southside Johnny tonight , I know its going to be a great gig.
I always used to feel like I would get that with Bon Jovi but now I go and just hope Jon is in a good mood...... that totally sucks!

Have a blast Lee - Southside always puts on a good show. Though I have seen him do shows in a piss-poor mood too.

Great post Supersonic– I posted this in another thread but thought it may sit better here………….

My verdict?

I like the Circle. Maybe it’s my age (I’m nearly 35)

I’ve been into Jovi since I was 13 and every time they release an album I hope with all my heart it’s an album to rival (what I think is their best) New Jersey. It isn’t gonna happen. End of. Jovi have changed and maybe not for the better most of us seem to think.

I do think a lot of older fans are probably bored of them. Let’s be honest and I mean really honest they haven’t released (imo) a classic album of 12 great songs since New Jersey. KTF was patchy but where good excellent. TD wasn’t a great Bon Jovi album to me – too miserable. I really like it don’t get me wrong but it’s not one I play a lot. Crush was dire, Bounce was OK, HAND was half good half shit and Lost Highway was different which I have no problem with for one album at least.

Bon Jovi are making music for them and rightly so. They have been there and done it so why not do something for themselves? But they risk losing more fans every album. Take last week’s sales. 71,000 in the first week is OK but it used to be 110,000+ in the UK – blame illegal downloads, X factor and MP3s but I still believe a fan would buy the product even if they could “steal” it online. I illegally downloaded it the other week but come Monday morning there I was in HMV buying not 1 but 2 (one for my dad) copies of The Circle. The fact is BJ are losing more and more fans with every album.

Jovi haven’t been “great” for 20 years…….. in studio anyway.

Live they are one of the best of course and that’s where they come into their own. But look how many new songs they play on tour? Not many. It’s all the classics the crowd go mad for. The new ones get a slight reaction. The O2 gigs will sell out but how many would care if they played nothing from albums after These Days? In fact id love that,

If we can see that from our view it’s amazing that Jovi can’t see that and think to themselves we need to make a record like SWW or NJ.

You know who I am most disappointed with in the band? Ritchie.
I think his work since TD has been dreadful. Half the songs don’t have solos and when they do they are too short and boring. Tico for me carries the band without him (if he left) they would be fooked.

These are just my views don’t slam me for them everyone is entitled to a view.

Many said that if it wouldn’t improve they’d stop caring. And they did (Late, Johannes are names that pop up into my head). .
I actually never stopped caring, except maybe for this board. I have seen the band on every tour since the Bounce tour (Hyde Park then). On HAND tour it was Manchester which is possibly the best show I have ever been to. The show in Helsinki during LH Tour was a major disappointment due to Jon being moody and well..it was like he wasn't there. After this I lost a bit of interest in this band partly due to the fact that I saw Bruce a month later at the same venue and he was on fire, he looked like he was having fun and he looked like he wanted to be there. I don't know why but I bought tickets for two O2 shows next June. 20th and 22nd to be exact. Any of you "old timers" happen to be there then? I know I'll probably buy tickets to the 2011 European tour anyway so this was a bit of an ex-tempore thing.

I've listened The Circle through a couple of times. It's ok but I'm not sure if it's even the best of 2000's. I will still have to give it a few listens.

I sometimes miss the times of the old Jovitalk (which was on the same template with www.drycounty.com) and the beginning of this Jovitalk 3. It was a fun time. I don't know if it was the quality of the discussions or my own life that drag me away from here. I still read this board almost daily nowadays. Maybe I will start writing more when the tour starts again so I can bash the set lists.

This is not a new thing. At all. Anyone else old enough to remember Keep the Faith (the song) being marketed as Bon Jovi going dance/exploring a new rhythmical direction?

They have for a long time been purposefully a couple of years behind the latest trends in music.

Personally don't give a ****, as long as the song-writing is good and it's delivered with some honesty and feeling.

I hate it when Tictoc's posts get deleted before I get to read them. Missed another one on a different thread as well.

Really enjoyed reading that, Seb.

To be honest, as a fairly new lover of the band(became a fan in 2006), I can't really share my opinion on the subject as I haven't really experienced a rock-bottom low yet. Only been to one show which I think was pretty solid and although I really dislike 'Have A Nice Day', I feel the last two outings were a definite improvement.

I did enjoy reading that, Seb.

I'm one to always pull you up on posts and that, but that's just our difference of opinion.

I really can't see myself getting bored of Bon Jovi, and I listen to them every single day! All the time.

Well ,good to know you were a die-hard once,Seb.

Different people, different ways of handling it,I guess. I for one,can never lose the love for the band for that simple one reason-Giving me Hope,Faith,Soul, something to kill time when I had a lot of time to kill!.. NEVER.

Though I find myself comparing recent Bj material to any great song I come across, and wonder whether they really are as great as I make them out to be;I have learnt to love the songs somehow. Even when they are mediocre, they're a million times better than most of the top bands .

I think The Circle lacks-1. A fun song, like "Two story town","lil bit o soul"..2.An acoustic song [minus strings and other bullshit noise]. Apart from that, its Awesome.

I enjoyed the read Seb.
As far as Bon Jovi, I've posted several times how and when I got into them, so there's no need to post it again. (Cliffnotes version: got OWN and SWW in August of '01 when I was 13, been hooked ever since) I'm not gonna pick apart what you wrote, and my opinion on The Circle isn't fully formed yet. (It's MILES ahead of Bounce, HAND, or LH as an album. Can't decide with Crush yet) Just to comment on the negativity aspect for a second though, my biggest problem with some people on this board (not really you Seb, all the time anyway) is less the opinions, and more the way others opinions are treated (by both camps really) I mean, I know there are plenty of people on here who'd probably label me a blind follower who worships everything the band does, which is insanely far from the truth. I think the first two records are (outside of a few tracks) throwaway junk, besides New Jersey, the band has NEVER made a record without at least one absolute clunker of a song, Bounce is on of the worst sequenced albums of all time, HAND is slightly better, but still forced, LH is half-good and half utter shit. But, because I don't harp on that all the time, or actually look forward to new albums/shows, "defend" (and by defend I mean state the obvious reasons) why setlists look the way they do, I get blasted as "sucking Jon's cock", which always make me laugh, since I've always said that Jon comes off as mostly an ass, and Richie is far and away my favorite member. Again, this isn't directed at you Seb, at all really. It's a general comment on some of the negativity that flows around here.
