Default Why Was Just Older Not a Single?

It always seemed strange to me that Just Older was never released as a single given how much Jon obviously loves the song, and how well it was received in a live setting. I only got into the band with It's My Life so I have no sense of what was being discussed back around the release of Crush. Does anybody know if there were discussions about Just Older being released as a single, and why it wasn't?

I'm thinking of how Jon really pushed for The Distance to be released as the second single off Bounce and the record company insisted on Misunderstood and AALY. I wonder if there was one thing similar with Just Older.

That's a pretty good question since we already had this promo/single https://www.discogs.com/release/4996...Save-The-World

Wasn't Misunderstood the only track he remembered from Bounce when asked why it wasn't represented on the 2010 (?) Greatest Hits release?

if I remember correctly, I THINK that Save The World was used is a commercial or something in Japan hence the reason there was a promo CD for it over there.

I don't recall there ever being any mentions by anyone in the band about Just Older potentially being a single.

I remember early early early days in my fandom, reading a site saying Just Older was being considered for a single would get a live video release if so but I think the biggest reason it didn't was the hard and fast pivot to stop promoting the album when the two follow up singles flopped and went into promoting the live album.

I could have seen a world where Just Older was the lead single off of OWN but I would have much preferred a studio release.

Lemme see what I can dig up about that.

Also, IML was such a megahit, was there even a chance for other two singles to break through the charts in the same time? Or perhaps the dates were far away enough

For us, we didn't get Say it Isn't so as a single so there was probably a four or five month gap between IML and Thank You...which did get a lot of radio play here but nothing that stuck around after a few months.

Does anyone remember the TBJEntertainment account on YT from Jon's brother with the Bounce and some Crush live video montages?
There was a rumour he had been given the task to produce a video for Just Older (maybe fourth single / one off OWN / some promo thing or really just a video) and Jon rejected it 'cause he absolutely didn't like it.

That's very interesting and strange. Jon clearly loves the song and always did by the amount he played it at the time and in the following tours. If he didn't like the video someone made, one would think he would just commission to make another video. It seems like a weird reason to abolish the whole single release. Or given that Jon once said that he views Just Older as Crush's Blood On Blood (in a sense that it is a fan favorite, rather than a crossover hit), why order a video in the first place?

Probably had more to do with record company involvement again. I doubt that they would have wanted to have launched the live album with Just Older as a single (live tracks don't do well at radio and the studio version would promote Crush more than the live album) - and they were asked to come up with something new for radio, hence they new version of One Wild Night...
