Default Wild is the Wind

A quick note before I post, I have been a daily viewer of this forum since the lost highway tour and it really is a fantastic place and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who regularly post, reading is a great source of both info and entertainment. I have decided to, somewhat apprehensively, throw my two cents in a little from now on.

So as I suffer from Jovi withdrawal, like many I cruise youtube to get my "live" fix. I have been listening to the 2011 performances of Wild is the Wind and they are a real treat. Obviously the reasons behind its status as a live rarity are up for debate but I think the way they tweaked it during the last tour turned it into a completely different song for me. Almost more of a ballad, a little more epic and it actually really suits Johns voice in the key its played at.

Its made me wonder why they don't tinker with the tempo and key on a few other old cuts such as Only Lonely as the same treatment could not only make it more manageable for John live, but also breath some new life into the song potentially inspiring them to play more often. I would love to see them try (so long as they steer clear of a total TLFR rework)!

Thoughts, disagreements etc?!

If you like the recent performances as I do, then have you heard the pro-recorded mp3 of it at the o2 arena?

I was pleased to see it released as a free treat to fans in 2010.

That is actually a really great recording and performance of WITW in the more recent years and I like the arrangement of it. But talking of great moments of performing, one of the best vocal performances by Jon since way back boils down to a mere few seconds during the very last show in Lisbon. Those last vocals during TAALS just floors me every-single-time (watch from the 5'00 mark ). No half-assed, just full power and with the full depth of his voice. Man I wish he sang like that all the time.

The benefits of knowing there is no show the next day. Or for the next 18 months.

Yeah - the same goes with the song before - I Believe. The "SOUL!" scream and all of Jons voice in that song. Man...

This is one of my favorite performances ever by this band.

Is there only 2 soundboard versions of the song? The O2 version and the (poor quality) Largo 1989 version?

I would love to be at a show where he doesnt play it safe, Lisbon proves he's still got it in him to pull a few great vocal moments out the bag.

Exactly what I was thinking. Imagine if he could still sing like that all the time. Would be immense. Sadly he ain't 28 anymore. But not many 50 year olds still look good, move and work as hard as him.

That's a pretty bold statement.

This is my missus' favourite BJ song and every time we go to a BJ concert they will always play it just before or just after our concert - but never our concert. I have the same issue with Livin in Sin. Never seen it live
