What the heck are you talking about? Of course Aerosmith deserve it more than Bon Jovi. If any american band deserves it, it's Aerosmith. Then we can talk about other bands. Aerosmith IS rock 'n' roll. There's no other American band that comes closer to what the meaning of the term represents or should represent. And I am sure that even Jon Bon Jovi would agree with that.

I think we've just found something we can both agree on. I was about to say the same thing.

Both Aerosmith and Bon Jovi equally deserve to be in the hall of fame, as far as I'm concerned.

However, I don't think BJ will get in, I see an absolute travesty on the horizon.

Both of these artists belong in the Hall. The Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame isn't for just rock artists and that's why Madonna got in. Madonna has influenced many pop artists and the changes in that area of music. Devilsson has already explained why Aerosmith is and deserves to be in there.

I think so, yeah, after Jon's sideways entry to the biz, via WAPP.

From http://www.rockhall.com/inductees/induction-process/:

Performers

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists’ contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.

The Foundation’s nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of more than 500 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes - and more than 50 percent of the vote - are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year.

You have to remember that Bon Jovi won't just be up against the other performers who become eligible in 2009, but also against performers who were eligible earlier but didn't get in. We know the band has never been the darling of the critics. I think they'll get in, but I guess I'd be surprised if it happened the first year.

I agree. Dave Marsh is on the RR HoF nominating comittee and he personally hates Jon. Dave Marsh is a huge Springsteen supporter and he considers Jon an upstart and a phony (especially about politics). Read this thread about trading insults in the press.

I think he will use all the influence he has to keep Bon Jovi out.

If The Rock n roll hall of fame Isn't for just rock artists, then why is it called the ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME. In that case, Mozart deserves to get in.

And as for Aerosmith, they do deserve it. I just never really liked them that much and never followed them. So my statement was a personal opinion. Sorry that I didn't explain that earlier.
